Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaah hahahahahahahaha- Hannity and Stanford
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/18/sean-hannity-allen-stanfo_n_168024.html

This is too good.
<snip>
Mention 'Sean Hannity' to Stanford Coins & Bullion and get a free guidebook.

Yup, that's Stanford as in Stanford Financial Group, or Allen Stanford, the Texas billionaire who is apparently on the lam after being charged Tuesday in connection with a multi-billion-dollar fraud.

"Stanford Coins & Bullion, a member of the Stanford Financial Group, their name as good as gold," Hannity intones on advertisements that regularly run on his radio show.

"I couldn't believe it when I heard the advertisement," said Michael Levine, a regular Hannity listener from Westchester County, New York.

He called the radio station on Tuesday to inform them Stanford had been implicated in what the SEC termed "massive, ongoing" fraud. "They told me they had no idea what I was talking about," Levine told the Huffington Post.

19. He will be charged
http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/market-movers/2009/02/18/stanford-criminal-charges-almost-certain
<snip>
The SEC case against Allen Stanford comprises little more, right now, than a civil complaint; more private cases are now being filed. What does this mean for Stanford himself? Is he subject to arrest anywhere in the world? I asked Michael Gurland, a former federal prosecutor who's now at Neal Gerber Eisenberg, about what happens now.

Gurland told me that criminial charges are probably on their way: "The allegations on their face support criminal mail and wire fraud charges. I would assume there's an ongoing FBI investigation. The likelihood that he's going to be indicted are extraordinarily high." But that indictment doesn't need to be made public unless and until he's found and the US authorities start trying to extradite him from wherever he's turned up.

17. Stanford sure spent lots of money trying to influence Washington
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=alCwWflSbI8o&refer=home
<snip>
Feb. 19 (Bloomberg) -- R. Allen Stanford and his employees contributed $31,750 to Barack Obama’s presidential run, making the new president the third-largest recipient of Stanford campaign cash, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

An Obama aide, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the money was donated yesterday to charity.

Stanford, a Texas-born banker and citizen of Antigua whose whereabouts are unknown, is accused by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission of running an $8 billion fraud.

Senator Bill Nelson, a Florida Democrat, was the top recipient of Stanford-related political donations, with $45,900 since 1999, according to the center, a Washington-based research group. Nelson said he would give back the money. Representative Pete Sessions, a Texas Republican, got $41,375. Spokeswoman Emily Davis said yesterday that Sessions didn’t know Stanford personally.

Obama’s Republican opponent in last year’s presidential campaign, Arizona Senator John McCain, who received $28,150 from Stanford employees, said he would give the money to charity.

21. I just hope that Shammity has stashed his unreported offshore hidden
income with both Stanford and UBS. Maybe he has also bought a bunch of gold that's "being held in absolutely safe vaults" somewhere, too.

And then there's Ruch Limpaw. I wonder where his unreported offshore holdings are today. UBS? Stanford? Ah, yes, it's all so sweet to contemplate.

Perhaps we'll all get to have a nice chuckle at these creeps' expense soon.

If I remember correctly Keith said Hannity clearly has brain damage or is possibly insane and since it's not nice to pick on the sick, then Hannity has to be banned from worst persons. I don't think I've seen Hannity on worst since but has been on the "best persons" or other segment.

Could be wrong.

27. Want some more laughs
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/02/mad-rush-in-dc-to-give-back-stanfords-money-except-cornyn-sessions.php
<snip>
You could have predicted this, but members of Congress are now jostling to see how quickly they can donate political contributions from fugitive financier Allen Stanford -- accused of an $8 billion fraud by the SEC -- to charity.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) got the ball rolling yesterday, vowing to get rid of his $28,150 in Stanford donations, and The Hill reports this morning that President Obama will follow suit for the $4,600 Stanford gave him during the campaign. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) is also donating his Stanford contributions to charity.

But guess who's hanging on to the cash? Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), who took slightly less than $20,000 from Stanford, and Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), who received about $41,000, according to local media reports.

Cornyn "believes in the presumption of innocence," his office told the local Texas TV station that inquired about Stanford. I guess that means Cornyn's also not giving back the $50,000 Stanford gave to underwrite the Texas State Society's Black Tie and Boots inaugural ball last month, when the GOP senator chaired the society.

Stanford Financial Group, the alleged fraudster's Texas company, was a "Lone Star Partner" for the ball, giving Stanford and his fellow executives access to "special ... VIP areas" during the party, according to a copy of the invitation.

Stanford was just a criminal with lots of spoils trying to buy influence wherever he could.

68. There is something else
A few years back the Ohio head of Worker's Compensation 'invested' millions in rare coins. I suspect he bought the investments from Stanford's group. This was a big scandal. Can someone check on this?

72. Laugh if you want to
but the same thing could happen tomorrow with all of our 401K or bank statements.

I said that when Bernie Madoff was found out to be a fraud, and I'm saying it now. 99% of our economy is based on pieces of paper that we mutually agree have worth.
