I have to get this off my chest
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 06:55 PM by blues90
After all is said and done with all the issues we are now faced with .

Wars , corporate power , elections ,the economy , global warming are just a few .

I do believe before this country ever finds it's way onto the right track of success the first step needed is for the people of this country to reach deep within themselves and find the heart and conscience needed for this to ever happen and once they find this they need to never let go .

Otherwise I fear nothing will ever , ever change or last other than to be a patch from election to election .

We need to recall humanity or we lose all .

6.  No , I don't think there was such a time
However I do feel that this is the only way as humans we will ever succeed for the benefit of all .

It's nothing new , just common knowledge that needs to be brought up as a reminder once in while .

There have always been songs written about this sort of hope .

3. We will need a truth and reconciliation commission after this is over.
Sad to say, we will need Republicans and Democrats to sit down and agree on basic facts. The truth has been taking a wicked beating here for the past 10 years and until we all agree on the facts, we'll never get past it.

4. People are too busy shopping. That's what the psycho told them to do. "Go shopping."
Good little sheeple. As soon as this starts to involve THEM and their pocketbooks/wallets, THEN they will effect the change we need.

I agree with your post. People had better wake up and SOON or the country they're use to living in will be gone forever.

7. Children have to understand, from Grade 1 that they are
Citizens.... and that Citizens have duties. They have to understand that they are responsible for the Freedom that we sing about. It is in their hands and no one else's.

Civics has to be part of the curriculum, and not for one semester in Freshman year, either...

9. I believe in the end we will be ok.
We are very slow as a people - very slow - but we get it right in the end.

We will now.

I believe it in my heart.

8. I think the solution comes...
after the problem is understood. Human nature does not delineate that much. We all require the same basic things, and good/bad characteristics are inherent in all. When any group of people retains control over another there are certain behaviors that need to be safe-guarded against. The survival of the fittest does not pit individuals against each other, but a group against the individual. So, it seems the ground upon which institutions are built needs to be leveled in order to start over.
I can not fathom the physical size of what we see as 'power'. I perceive corporations as a logo, placed on a large piece of property which encloses a plant/industry/type building. If one of the say one hundred largest corporations, were to be realized on a map, including all it's global operations, all it's subsidies, and all the other companies/industries/ in which it's board of director's holds controlling stock I wonder what state/country/continent it would resemble?

10. People that frame things in such a small way - they are just as
dangerous as people that recognize no context.

I am telling you, I am a moderate democrat - I am.

I am saying - my dad ran an oil company - he did - and he was a good democrat. In fact, you said something bad about FDR - he'd kick your teeth out. You know - not so moderate.

I think we better open our minds about this - I really do.

11. I'm sorry you think my expression of thought...
is dangerous. I never said anything about FDR, ever.... so perhaps my teeth are safe? And, as far as open-minds go, you may have a point...as I just don't see what you are taking offense with?

12. No, man -
You had the cajones to make that post. By definition - you are of the leaders for us.

I am just a prick.

What I am trying to say - those guys that faced death, they knew they had a new birth when they lived thru that war. And they didn't care about politically right - Just right.

I say FDR cause I know that is where they stood - And they really had the right to say what they thought. They earned it the hard way.

Do I take offense with you?- oh, the contrary.

Joe
