5. Seems like Dennis Kucinich is most popular, but
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 07:05 PM by Cleita
since it seems that the Democrats will run Hillary at the end of the day, I wonder if Dennis should run as a Green? I think he would have a far better chance than Ralph Nader and I'm not even worried about the spoiler effect. The GOP are toast. No matter whom they run, they won't win as long as they don't steal the 2008 election, so the race would be between Hillary and Dennis in an honest one.

Okay, flame me. I'm just having brain farts right now.

7. Right now,
the GOP candidates are polling about where the Dem ones are. It isn't a sure thing, and the last thing we need as Nader's legacy leaves the White House is for Kucinich to open the door for McCain.

8. McCain won't be the RNC candidate. He isn't fascist enough for
them. Look for Newt Gingrich to start coming on the scene.

11. Newt is one scary individual.
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 07:13 PM by EOO
The one guy who said that he'd vote to suppress the first amendment would easily be the most fascist choice for the RNC if that were the case.

17. Newt is reinventing himself into a softer, friendlier Newt.
Hell, Bush BS'd his way into running for President. Newt can too. I think the RNC does not like McCain and will not back him that heartily, but Newt is their wet dream come true.

32. All I have to say is - if Newt gets the nom, I'm outta here.
I'll apply for citizenship in another country faster than you can blink. It will be the '00 elections (which forced upon us 8 years of Resident Bush) all over again.

33. You won't have to, because even if Newt is the candidate
and even if he lies all through the campaign pretending to be a centrist, he won't win in a fair election. This is where we have to concentrate our efforts in having fair elections.

Randi Rhodes came up with something off the wall today about the firing of the prosecutors because of election 2008. She thinks that uncooperative, although Republican, lawyers are being replaced by loyalists so that the Republicans can go into races with close winning numbers and accuse the Democrats of election cheating. The loyal prosecutors of course will rule that the Democrats cheated unlike the deposed prosecutors who didn't find any election irregularities when accused by Republican losers.

She said she got the idea from a speech Karl Rove made about how to win election 2008. I wouldn't put it past them. It is more important than ever to have verified vote counts so no one can yell foul.

13. There's a laugh.
Newt Gingrich is the Dennis Kucinich of the RNC. Sure, the party faithful love him, and he's unapologetic in his stances. But he has about as much chance of being elected as my dog does.

(note: I am not comparing the two men policy-wise, or character-wise).

The Republicans are running away from the Bush mold this election. McCain, Rudy, and Romney all, in their own way, represent a break from the Bush legacy, though they each have their own attachments to 43 (McCain on the war, Rudy on terrorism/executive authority, Romney on social issues). The last thing the Republicans need is Newt.

15. Surprise, surprise. Newt is reinventing himself for public
consumption. A few months ago Discover magazine did an interview with him where he posed as an environmentalist and non-creationist. :wow:

He has no problem lying to get where he wants to get but underneath it all he's the same old fascist.

22. He can pose all he wants,
but there's simply too much slime on him. It would be like Tom DeLay "re-inventing himself" to run for President.

23. First DK would not run as a Green and you're wrong it would have a spoiler effect.
I don't know why so many people think '08 is going to be a piece of cake when all the polls show the major republican candidates either neck and neck with the top democrats or ahead of them--and this is at a time when Bush is at an all-time low and the war is as unpopular as ever.

25. Dennis won't run as a Green, he supported the nominee in 2004.

Of course, anything's possible. He might change his mind this time around but he's always been a loyal Democrat.

Too bad the rest of the Dems in Congress aren't as loyal to Dem principles as Dennis is. I wouldn't blame him for deciding the Party left him when they moved to the center and I'd support him if he ran on a third party ticket.

35. Yes. If you can't decide yet, donate to the DNC.
They will help build the infrastructure and build the constituency that will get Dems elected.

If you want a revolution, talk to this guy:

If you want to strengthen the Party, send some money and volunteer.

Or both!
