We are all in this together ........
...... or we are not one nation.

As goes the least of us, so go we all.

And if this message doesn't sit so well with you, get the fuck out; I don't know you.

2. I'll go one better
We are all related (Ho Metaquiatsun)--

There is only One Being, and we are all a part of That. As such, what we do to the "least of these" we do to ourselves (Sufi philosophy as interpreted by Ayesha Haqqiqa)

3. Thank you!!!
Sadly, I fear we have forgotten how to be a national community.

Seems some of us are far more interested in advancing ur own interests and agendas and looking out for ourselves than we are with considering how fulfilling those desires impacts others.

4. ?
And if this message doesn't sit so well with you, get the fuck out; I don't know you.

Reach out your hand, and invite others to join you. Together, let us make America strong. The first part of your statement was inspiring..the last part divisive. Negated the whole thought.

I understand your passion. We have to find a way to unite this country...the divisive ways are destructive, last 8 yrs is evidence.

8. Try the last 28 years .....
This is NOT some phenomenon related to bush.

This is a way of life for them.

Yes, it is divisive.

9. Now really .... what do you think?
And don't give me some innocent "how would I know" line.

What do you THINK I meant?

6. You got it
The appeal of Obama to me is the inclusivness that he believes and practices. He actually wants you and I and the rest of us here to have a better life, same for our children and grand children. We are all in this together cannot be said too often for my taste.

7. In fact we are more dependent upon each other than ever.
We used to be somewhat independent. But a modern lifestyle requires all of these tiny little pieces that fit together.

However...my building and planning department is closed today. I have to admit that I did a little dance when I tried calling them this morning. But even they provide a service. I'll get back when I figure it out. Just kidding. But things are so tough here that they're closing down. That means people in planning are going to see less income. Rough times.

10. word UP !! and i'll take it one step
further-

We are all on this planet together- and the sooner we come to recognize this, and act on our realization, the more reason we have to look toward the future with more than hope.

12. Yes we are.
I think that might be seeping into some minds these days.

Someone upthread asked if that included republicans. In my opinion, yes it does. Oh, not the percentage of them who are looking for shooting licenses against the "evil liberals." But the ones who are of the "old fashioned" variety who just want to live their lives in relative comfort. Those who are as astounded as we on the left are, of the take-over of their party by those whose sole purpose is to benefit themselves at the expense and, if need be, the destruction of others. Those who cynically use whatever tools of control they can conjure, i.e. "religion," education, economics, class, gender, race, prejudice, bigotry, etc.

Until we start making those connections, we 98%ers are going to be exploited by, and in servitude to, the 2%ers. As things are going these days, it will literally be the death of some of us.

14. Of course it includes repubicans .... but only those who see it the same way ......

15. I knew you meant them, too. I should have made it more clear
I was making a general observation rather than pointing at you specifically.

The ones in Congress are the very ones to whom I referred as using whatever tool comes to hand to insure their own power/profit/benefit at whatever the cost.

I bet you knew I knew you knew, too. LOL

13. John Donne expresses this beautifully.
http://www.online-literature.com/donne/409/
"No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee."
