Scarborough Country Leads With "Impeachment?" .... What's Up???
Suddenly CNN and MSNBC are now discussing possible impeachment of Bush.

For years they would not utter the word.

What's changed?

had it surfaced for years, if these 'journalists' are not all somehow involved?

30. Yes.
Interesting you said that -- about the "journalists" being involved .... I've been putting together a few things that document how some journalists have been directly tied to the "activities" of this administration. Curious roles they play.

They are saying Republicans cannot carry Bush's mistakes.

I said it before, the impeachment process will begin with Repubs.

We impeach Cheney and Bush simultaneously or Cheney before Bush and then we get President Pelosi according to the Constitution...

because of his tax fraud conviction.

This time I say the crimes are related and so the impeachment and trial of Messrs. Bush and Cheney should be one trial.

34. Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with you, but these thugs have
tried and will continue to try and do things their way - screw the constitution, screw any rules and regulations. If we've learned nothing else from this bunch, we have learned that they are unscrupulous and will try and do as they damn well please. I think they know Rudy will be chopped up because of his personal problems, and they really have no one else in the wings. I think they think Dems will tolerate Hagle because of his recent, and I emphasize recent, anti-Bush stance. I don't trust Hagle as far as I can throw him, but who else do they have until they can try and get Jeb in there - they can't do that now because people would revolt. It's just my opinion, but look for them to do something desperate because they are desperate.

Seriously, once people start considering that they've committed serious crimes, the reality that they are still in charge and capable of doing even more damage has to be a continuing thought. What would you do to avoid accountability if you committed high crimes against the American people and the Constitution?

It's not about what's right, or about bringing him to justice or even about stopping him from committing future atrocities. It's about getting their butts into a lifeboat before the Titanic that is this administration takes them all down with it.

Republican Sees Bush Impeachment as an Option
A Senate Republican accuses President Bush of angering Congress and the public by taking a go-it-alone approach to Iraq war policy.

Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel stopped short of calling for impeachment. But he said some other lawmakers consider impeachment an option. Hagel spoke on ABC's "This Week."

22. I suspect that the top Repubs on Capitol Hill know what is coming, and they had enough of Bush...
Someone has to stop Bush or we will be in the middle of a new war with Iran, fighting with a broken military force, bankrupting the country.

Repubs already see a total massacre coming in the next election, and they know that the corruption that has been hidden by the Repub Majority on the Hill up to the last election is now going to be publicly exposed.

Repubs are getting close to making the trip to the White House, telling Bush it is time to go.

It is possible they already broached the subject with Bush, and Bush told them he is not changing anything and he will start a war with Iran if he darn well likes because he is the decider.

26. I believe in the concept..
... of a "tipping point". That's like when you've crested the hill and it's all downhill, and you cannot stop.

We've thought many times before that this administration had reached the tipping point, but this time, they just might have done it.

The Republicans in the senate really cannot afford much more Bush. Most of them realize that Iraq is over no matter what. Many of them realize that the "culture of corruption" label is starting to sound pretty apt. Most of them would like to get re-elected.

A scandal like the one that is brewing now is very valuable to them. They can turn against Bush and claim to have solid justification for doing so.

I don't know if Bush will be impeached or not. But I know that his "political capital" is not only all spent, he's now in "political debt".

33. The MSM knows they are going to be taken to task for supporting Bush for 6 yrs...
... and there are not going to be any more concessions allowing the MSM corporate consolidation and monopolization with the Democrats in control of Capitol Hill.

IS the MSM now trying to rehabilitate their image before they themselves are put on the hotseat for aiding and abetting Bush?

The change sure seems pretty stark.

Scarborough actually said he's talked to Republicans in Congress who have admitted Bill Clinton treated them with more respect than Bush does. They have turned their back on him and it seems are sick of his shit (if not publicly yet). Of course they're thinking about 2008 and the future of their party too.

looks like they are starting to depart the *Titanic.

These republics have to look forward at their own political careers, and hitching their wagon to a lame duck with *W's sinking approval ratings and developing scandals certainly isn't an upwardly mobile move for any of them.

It's just too bad that an R had to mention the "I" word to get any traction in the media. But, WTF, I'll take it any way we can get it.

43. Let's Review: Frist is gone, Delay is gone, Rumsfeld is gone.....
So who is left to instill Republican Party discipline with an iron hand?

The Bush top down rule does not work any more, and members of Congress that were abused now see their survival as their top priority and open resentment of Bush as an option.

Hagel goes out and mentions possible impeachment.
Bush refuses the only sane advice --get rid of Gonzales, and get it all out and over with.

The future will be Democratically Chaired Congressional Investigations 24/7 until Bush leaves office. Corruption will be revealed. Bush does not care.

All of the above may have something to do with today's decision by the MSM to start talking Impeachment.

44. The MSM are opinion followers, not leaders...
When Bush was running 80% in the polls, no one would dare run anything negative or questioning. The result was virtually no critical or independent reporting on things like Iraq. Now that Bush is at the opposite end of the spectrum they are jumping on the bandwagon to destroy him. While I may enjoy this phase in a schadenfreude way, I wonder if it wouldn't be better if the press operated otherwise.

The problem is that the MSM currently acts as an amplifier of dominant opinion--exaggerating public mood swings--rather than as a sensible, rational, critical check on political extremity. In an ideal world, they would act like a counterweight pulling the pendulum back when it swings so far that we get into trouble. It would constantly strive to reveal lies and half-truths and viciously oppose corruption. Instead we all we get is a weather vane that shows us where the wind blows (with apologies to Dylan).

45. I tend to believe that the MSM corporate owners have their own interests and agenda...
... they realize they are going to be dealing with Democrats in charge for a long time, and the opportunity to gain concessions for themselves and escape government regulation has ended.

So what do you do if you have a despicable record of not only failing to expose the corruption of this Administration, but you have actually engaged in aiding and abetting them? You change course, begin to look more like a real news organization with journalistic ethics and standards.

IMHO the MSM is acting out of self-interest, and trying to ward off future onerous regulation that is bound to occur as their role in all this is exposed to the public.
