It would send the clear message that the age of corruption is over and the U.S. is restoring itself as a beacon of freedom and justice and opportunity. Until then, we'll continue to see our completely discredited markets fail, distrust in our government and massive, unchecked corruption that will hinder if not completely stop real economic progress. All of it is interconnected, it's not difficult to understand, although our TV-land propaganda whores would like its viewers to believe it is while they try to sell their false conflicts and tension instead of easily explaining reality.

Accountability: for torture camps, WMD lies, rigged elections, illegal wiretapping, a fraudulent Justice Dept, denying science and, recognition that the complete bullshit known as "Reaganomics" is and will always be a lie.

2. I guess I've been out-hearted
You get a bunch of hearts from saying UGH all the time without bothering to explain yourself? UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH, there's 10 hearts for me!!!

If we hold the biggest criminals in the U.S. accountable, the message is sent that corruption is no longer tolerable and it would indeed turn the U.S. economy around.

UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH, 5 more hearts!!!

3. OK, how about this:
Arresting them, while symbolically important, does not even begin to address the massive, massive amounts of debt we hold as a country, as companies, as state and local governments, and as individuals. THAT is the reason for this crisis, and the reason why it will not end anytime soon, if ever.

5. It will go a long way towards ending the types of policies which put us here, sure.
But then, consider that first of all, we no longer have a manufacturing base or produce much of anything as a country! Do you realize how much industrial equipment has been trucked into Mexico and shipped to China (which we'll NEVER fucking get back), that we would need to replace to restore our independence in terms of clothing, electronics and other goods? Sure, rebuilding our infrastructure will create a lot of jobs, but we haven't touched yet upon the concept of ending our reliance upon foreign energy! We have the fact that the world's oil production is about to enter a permanent decline to contend with also.

In short, in the best case we'll need 10 - 20 years to build our way back out of this, and that is if we all agree that our whole society needs to be revamped. There will be no return to what we're familiar with at this point. No way, no how. :(
