The latest Republicanthing - setting off one section of the community against the other
how unhelpful republicans are. Their latest thing of course is to set one set of people against the other. The 'housing haves' against the 'housing have nots', the people with jobs against people with no jobs. Those people who won't benefit from the stimulus against those who will. They've gone quiet on terrorists and war haven't they. Although now they are starting the war against environmentalists.

1. That's an old trick
As old as civilization.

But you are correct, our greed-mongering overlords love to divide us and pit us against each other.

2. Washington would probably say that he told us so
He warned against this in his 1796 Farewell Address

It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

How many of these things have the Republicans done just over the last month???

3. This, although as old as Julius Caesar, is a tactic recently employed by
Karl Rove who raised it to a new art form. Even though he's no longer around that much his legacy apparently lives on. Environmentalists have always had war waged against them. I think they pretty much know how to deflect it.

4. CAREFUL!
As to rover, there's no such thing as 'he's no longer around that much.'
