Now try and imagine several million dead due to Nazis. We've all seen that. But the rest of the story is millions of Chinese, Russians, Japanese... Now try imagining the 100 million dead. This is utterly mind boggling.

I fear the war machine. We should boycott it. Stop it. But so much of our economy is related to the peripherals of war, we are probably totally dependent upon it.

First, I'd like to thank you too for jumping into the fray at the Chattanooga Times Free Press site. It's nice to have you guys over here covering my back. Now, as for the Huffington Post, well, thanks, but no thanks. As much as I like to read the blog, I do need to earn a living. As Ken Lerer, who worked as an executive at Time-Warner before helping to launch the Huffington Post, explained to USA Today: the company has no plans to begin paying the bloggers at the Post. In his words, paying contributors is "not our financial model. We offer them visibility, promotion and distribution with a great company."

Thanks again for your support. The comments posted on my newspaper's site can't hurt me in the eyes of my editors. It's always nice for them to be reminded that I might be bringing readers to the paper and increased traffic to the web site. Thanks again!
