How many Rethug senators will vote to remove with so many up for re-election in 2008? I think we're getting much closer to impeachment, after which conviction must happen!

I can not tell you the number of times in the past 6+ years I have said this man has got to go to prison and I live for the day he is hauled away in an orange jumpsuit

so - a few weeks ago I called a member of Congress' office - someone who I won't necessarily name - BUT would be VERY VERY involved in an impeachment....and I said to the woman who answered the phone I live for the day this man is hauled out of the White House in an orange jumpsuit and she said AND IN CHAINS....God Bless her - I laughed right out loud my kind of gal!!!!!

And I'm not even kidding I wish/hope/pray EVERY night that this man goes to prison because that is where the FREAK belongs....I share your dream.

Then my answer to you would sadly be "no."

Considering the current make-up of the Senate, I just don't think you would get a 2/3 vote for conviction if he were to go on trial in the Senate.

I think it would be much easier in the House to get articles of impeachment approved. But once he goes on trial in the Senate, the 2/3 is just not there.

Has Pelosi said it was back on the table? Has there been a groundswell of support for impeachment in the House? If Bush is impeached and it goes to the Senate for trial, exactly where are the 17 or more votes for conviction in addition to the Democratic votes going to come from because we could certainly not even count on getting all of the Democratic Senators to vote for conviction. It is nice to have dreams and wishful thinking, just don't lose touch with reality.

No prez has ever actually been convicted/removed. It ain't gonna happen. There are political -and- practical reasons...think for a moment about "President Cheney"...
