2005: Bush assures us on investing Social Security money in Wall Street: "Your money will GROW!"
"Your money will grow, over time, at a greater rate than anything the current system can deliver," Bush said in his State of the Union speech. "In addition, you'll be able to pass along the money that accumulates in your personal account, if you wish, to your children or grandchildren. And best of all, the money in the account is yours, and the government can never take it away."

2. We would be totally fucked now if he had succeeded.
Which was the plan all along. With no safety net, we would be completely at the mercy of the corporate powers.

11. The neocons wanted to steal all of Americas future
Putting it in the market would successfully bankrupt all middle class and below in this crash.

I suspect this crash of the economy was engineered by the bu$h regime and their minions.

12. It was Bush and the REPUBLICANS that wanted to...
Dump Social Security into the stock market, because they needed more cash to keep their illusion going that the economy was booming and all was very well.

Nobody let the shyster Republicans off the hook... Dumping Social Security into the stock market before it crashed, was their plan too.

14. I'm not prepared to cut g.w. bush *any* slack; I say he knew what he was doing...
in spite of his appearances to the contrary; I say his "ownership society" shtick was just that: yet another republican junk loan, junk bond, toxic waste dump shtick for people that are void of any new products cept for ways to bundle meaningless paper assets as a way to enhance profits for their donor base and the investor class

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/meltdown the clip muses on it's surface, "what Bernanke and Paulsen didn't see, couldn't stop, and weren't able to fix" I say that it was all more nefarious than that; I say they didn't even care liars all they!

take you money out of social security and let Wall Street handle it. I think you can loose everything you've got.

21. Right . . . Wall Street was counting on if not banking on Social Security funds --- !!!
We defeated Bush once . . . can we defeat those with big eyes for Social Security

money again????

Meanwhile, Obama should reduce the SS FICA rates which have been set artificially high

to creat a surplus to be used by Bush for wars and cutting taxes for rich!!

This was Greenspan's idea to increase SURPLUS to even higher levels, for borrowing,

serves as a slush fund -- and keeps the burden of taxation on the poor and middle class

because wealthier people only pay FICA up to earnings of $100,000 -- or something close

to that; probably less.
