Wow, Pat Buchanan's racist pig meltdown on GEM$NBC Friday

When Eric Holder, Obama's Attorney General, called America a nation of "cowards" when it comes to matters of race, Patrick J. Buchanan must have taken it as a challenge.

To the man who once called Adolph Hitler "an individual of great courage," Holder's comment must have set a time-bomb ticking in his head. On a Friday MSNBC broadcast, it exploded.

Seething about about crime rates among African American communities, Buchanan gave conflicting figures of black "illegitimacy" and railed about black "gang rapes." The entire episode seemed to evoke the underlying reasons why Buchanan's writing so often ends up cross-posted on ex-Klansman David Duke's Web site.

Speaking to Eric Michael Dyson, professor of sociology at Georgetown University, Buchanan asked for a moment to "tell some truths."

"White folks in America are not responsible for the 70 percent illegitimacy rate in the black community," he said. "We are not responsible for the fact that African-Americans commit crimes at seven times the rate of whites. We are not responsible for the fact that many more children in the African-American community, 75 percent, are born out of wedlock, as I've said."

Mid-sentence, Dyson's image froze. The host backtracked and apologized for technical difficulties in the video stream. "Go ahead, Pat," he said, even as Buchanan had already re-launched.

7 times the crime rate? Really? White collar crime too? How about the huge disproportion between white and black as far as sentencing for the same crime. A white stock broker, caught with powdered cocaine is rarely punished. A black with crack cocaine is almost always sentenced. 70% illegitimacy? What? He' needs to be fired. His racism is obvious.

I knew that I couldn't watch it. Funny how Pat always springs up for discussion of race issues. I guess I couldn't say that he is afraid to talk about it, but his viewpoint is so toxic and he seems to have no clue. I did turn it back in time to hear Pat yell "Listen, fella." Fella. Ugh. We should do a youtube montage of Pat's racist meltdowns (like when he randomly had one when Edwards endorsed Obama, and Chris and Andrea practically had to talk him off the roof), because he has definitely has had a few.

And if you don't have any knowledge of this, Google: pat buchanan nazi. The number of entries that appear are astounding.

Although Buchanan has tried to improve his image over the years, a friend once told me in jest that Buchanan had given up his annual celebration of Hitler's birthday.

But the reality is that prominent Americans such as Prescott Bush (W's grandfather), Charles Lindbergh, and many other wealthy, prominent, "respectable" citizens backed "good ole Adolf" before we became involved in WWII. And Pat Buchanan is one of those people who believes they were absolutely right.

Buchanan was not only a Richard Nixon speech writer, but has always questioned why Nixon wasn't "smart" enough to burn the audio tapes that eventually destroyed him.

As far as Pat being a racial bigot, no one (to my knowledge) has ever heard him use the "N" word. But hearing him speak that word isn't necessary if you just listen to him for a short while on TV. This man's ideology is as transparent as air.

(One of Molly Ivins greatest quotes was about Pat Buchanan. After his rabid speech at the 1992 Republican convention, Molly said: "It sounded better in the original German." God, how I loved and miss that woman.)

12. I'll never forget how disgusted I was when I saw the book, "The Color of Crime"

where I worked. The co-owner of the store was an ex-cop and constantly talked about how if someone was black, they were guilty of something. I was so disgusted by him. He was the reason I quit that job. Before, when he wasn't in the store so much, I didn't know all that. Then, when he started staying in the store every day, I began to dread going in. When I saw that book, I hightailed it and cut a few "friendships" with people who knew I knew what that shit was and that it was against my beliefs. They claimed to be my friends. Yet, read that shit AFTER I warned them that it was racist propaganda. Best move I ever made was leaving that place.
