There was apparently a shooting in one of our neighborhood bars. We think this is the shooting happened in the one bar where the clientele is predominantly black, in a relatively white neighborhood. The neighborhood had a meeting last Monday (which i didn't attend because one shooting in nyc is really not the end of the world)

however since then there have been these HUGE NYPD emergency floodlights shining on the street directly on this bar

today, i saw 2 cop cars pull over an impala with a male black driver right near the bar.

Lisa and I both believe that this is nothing short of racial profiling. That these lights on the ONLY black bar in the area is hugely unnecessary and seems to be for just police intimidation.

We could be wrong, but this is what we suspect and we don't know whom to approach to know why these lights are on and why the cop cars seem to be circling this bar.

What should we do? If any one has any ideas, especially if you are in the NYC area, we would really like to know.

7. Ignore the dimwit...
He's rude to everyone....or so I'm told.

The suggestion of using the library was likely so that your IP address can't be traced.

3. Go to the library and send an email to the police head about your concern and ask that he look into
it.

5. I'm guessing so you can be anonymous.
And not subject to reprisals from the police.

11. Set up a camera. If what you think is true, the evidence will be forthcoming.

12. Contact the ACLU so they can investigate
The ACLU takes up these kinds of cases all the time and they need everyone who suspects racial profiling to report it so they can document these incidents.
