Calling Fans of the Gipper...
Whereas Ronald Reagan, The 40th President Of The United States,

♥ in 1982, cut $41.4 billion from the federal budget for food stamps, welfare, housing aid and unemployment insurance;

♥ and meanwhile increased military spending by $7.2 billion;

♥ in 1980, spent $44.6 million renovating the White House;

♥ invaded the sovereign nation of Grenada to install a pro-American government;

♥ approved the Iran-Contra scandal, an arms-for-hostages deal in which the U.S. illegally sold weapons to Iran in return for freeing American hostages, and then used the proceeds to fund the right-wing Contras in Nicaragua;

♥ deregulated the transportation, banking and other major industries, encouraging corporate mergers that have led to today's financial meltdown;

♥ enacted deep tax cuts for the wealthy;

♥ coined such terms as "welfare queen";

1. We can't forget about eliminating the personal interest deduction.
That alone amounted to a significant tax increase for the Federal government. So when supply-siders start spewing rhetoric about revenues increasing during Ronnie's term it was due to things like this.

5. One of the commenters of the article brought that up - not the personal interest...
...deduction but how revenues increased during Ronnie's term. Of COURSE he didn't bring up the eliminating of the personal interest deduction or any of the other nefarious or damaging ways those revenues were increased. Pfft!

8. That's one of several things rwingers gloss over when talking about Ronnie.
Iran-Contra is swept under the rug. I've talked to Democrats in their 40's who look puzzled when I mention Iran-Contra, the CIA drug-running, Olly North. I'm sure some were not politically aware back then. But still, events like those cannot be forgotten when talking about the totality of the Reagan administration.

10. Exactly
Granted this list looks to us like a condemnation, but to freeper neanderthals it looks like he didn't go far enough, and should have implemented mass stonings of anyone politically to the left of Hitler. This list to them is a wet dream.

9. I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make...
unless it's that reagan had some interesting speech writers and he did a better job of catapulting propaganda than he did acting opposite a chimp.

12. And do you think he came up with any of those lines himself?
He was an actor chosen for his role because he could put a friendly face on fascism.
