WAXMAN - Requests CIA Documents Related to PLAME Case & NIGER Trip
Monday, March 26, 2007
Disclosure of CIA Agent Identity
Committee Requests CIA Documents Related to Disclosure of CIA Agent

Citing concerns that a Senate Intelligence Committee report may be inaccurate, Chairman Waxman asks the CIA for Agency memos related to Ambassador Wilson's February 2002 trip to Niger and the subsequent disclosure of Ms.Wilson’s covert status. Ms. Wilson recently testified before the Oversight Committee that the Senate report incorrectly claims that she was responsible for her husband’s mission, and that the CIA official who authored related memos attempted to correct the Senate’s distortions was denied the opportunity to clarify the matter.

2. Are the Techtonic Plates finally starting to move?

In June, Josh Marshall Talking Points

A few points before signing off, though. You may have noticed a slight down-tick in the frequency of posts of late. And that’s for a few different reasons. But a principal one is that I and several colleagues have been working on a story that, if and when it comes to fruition — and I’m confident it shall — should shuffle the tectonic plates under that capital city where I normally hang my hat. So that’s something to look forward to in the not too distant future. And that’s taken some of my time away from TPM and prevented me from sharing with you some delectable tidbits which otherwise I would have loved to have done.

I’ve spent so much time over the last several months reporting on a project that has to do with classified materials that I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t know just what the rules are for taking notes of such classified documents in secure reading rooms.

10. He left the record open so he/his staff could fact check and correct for the record.
I doubt Waxman would trust Vickie to even spell check. ;)

12. Why hasn't Rockerfeller corrected the record of the CIA testimony?
And when is he going to release phase 2?

So, treason is still in play. Along with Walter Reed, Iraq war profiteering, Iraq war troop withdrawals, DoJ politicization, national security issues with non-secure RNC servers, Republican corruption tied to Cunningham-Mitchell-Wade, and Election fraud. Hmmmm, have I left any scandals out? Boy, this is going to be an interesting few months....

Question: What did Bush know about the rightwing Colombian paramilitary plot to assassinate Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez--recently uncovered in the huge scandal that is ripping through the government of Bush's only friend in South America, and involving the head of the Colombian military (billions in military aid from Bush), and President Uribe's former chief of intelligence, among others--and when did he know it?

Question2: Is this why Bush got publicly lectured by Latin American leaders, from Brazil to Mexico--both left and right--on the sovereignty of Latin American countries, during his recent tour? And is this also why he never mentoned Chavez, and why Latin American leaders seem to have put a condition on his visit that there would be no Chavez-bashing?

This is the first I've heard of it. But it doesn't surprise me that the BFEE would be involved.

14. Question: what happens when henry gets these memos & other records
he is asking for and it basically shows that senators pat roberts, christopher bond & orrin hatch (who concluded that "the plan to send the former ambassador to niger was suggested by the former ambassador's wife") were purposefully lying in their report & covering up the truth? does waxman get to call those clowns up before the committee under oath and ask them what the fuck they thought they were doing?

can we impeach a senator? how 'bout three senators?

31. I wonder how much sleep Waxman and his staff get? There are SO many investigations
going on. Has Congress staffed each one separately? One staff for Plame, one staff for NSA, one staff for the FBI, one staff for Gonzo, one staff for Walter Reed, one staff for Abu Ghraib, one staff for Halliburton/KBR/Bechtel.....

I remember this memo being brought up at the hearing. It was recommended he get his hands on it. These thugs are going down.
