Oh come on now! We've now got two investigations that were referred about ten years ago, and these assholes didn't move on it? I call bullshit.

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/stanford/6273823.html

That's the article from the Houston Chronicle. OH I'M SO PISSED NOW!

"'Why it took 10 years for the feds to move on it, I cannot answer,' Securities Commissioner Denise Voigt Crawford told the Senate Finance Committee in Austin. Later, she added, 'We worked with the FBI and the SEC and basically gave them the case. We told them what we’d seen and they were going to run with it.'"

2. You guys don't understand this scandal...
it's bi-partisan. Ten years ago GWB was Governor of Texas and Clinton was in the White House.

9. I don't know how the Securities Commission in Texas is picked...
Edited on Mon Feb-23-09 10:19 AM by originalpckelly
but Bush probably picked people on it. They probably passed it off to the Feds to get it out of their hair.

Maybe we're starting to figure out why Cliton and Pappy Bush have been so close in recent years?

22. That is What is Troubling Here
Of course, we need to know more. It is conceivable that the SEC was paying attention and constucting a case, but the process stopped after January 2001.

Or not. I'm sure that will eventually come out.

8. True, but is the SEC directly under a President's control?
The FBI is, though, so maybe we should be suspicious. I've read a story where Clinton is on tape saying to bank with Stanford, it's the group of footage where Pelosi was on tape hugging this douchebag.

And we've got to remember that. There are only a few good ones there, or people who've yet to be bought off by the right people.

Cornyn is a part of this too, he took money from Stanford and his employees.

12. Well, did the FBI show Clinton ANY of the referral?
Was he ever given so much as an inkling? Or was the FBI working hand in glove with the Republicans to oust him?

Just a question. The referral was coming from TEXAS. Was anyone going to bother the Texas rich?

27. Well, he was given REPORTS about BCCI dealings and knew about Rich's role in IranContra-BCCI...
and he still sided with GHWBush. So....it's obvious Madoff and Stanford are longtime operatives for BFEE commonly classified as CIA 'assets' so they can get away with their illegal dealings in the long run.....like Marc Rich.

26. Clinton...and he was busy with GOP dog and pony show while still protecting GHWBush.
There was plenty Clinton COULD HAVE DONE to stop what was going on, but, he sided with GHWBush on his covert operations that tapped corrupt financiers like Marc Rich, Madoff and Stanford.

16. The thing about these fraudsters
is that they can be convicted of crimes and still work in the financial industry without their clients having any way of knowing their past.

There is a fellow here that pled guilty and plea bargained a probationary term as a first offender. He was arrested and charged a few years back in an FBI undercover high yield investment fraud sting. His legal proceedings were in federal court half way across the country and were not reported here. He does not sell stocks or bonds or insurance products and is not required to be licensed. He and his partner who was implicated but not charged in the FBI case sell alternative investments. I'm told that these fraudsters are moving their personal assets as well as those of family and clients south of the border to invest in luxury accomodations for travelers. With the money being placed outside the country it would be difficult to recover and with their personal assets being placed outside the country they are for all practical purposes judgment proof. These fraudsters present themselves has good men of faith and work the church circuit. Many of their clients are older and seeking investment alternatives for thier life savings. These guys need to be required to do hard time in the general prison population and make restitution to their victims. And their clients need to have access to the information that would enable them to avoid being victimized.

18. Sounds like RW TROLL fodder.
The INVESTIGATION started a decade ago (meaning during the Clinton administration.)

That does not mean they were ready to roll on charges ten years ago.

The quote is about why did it take 10 years... and he does not know why 10 years. BUT, might he say it would take at least 2 years? 5 years? Into the ** admin.

They received information from Texas, but when? What quality? It being Texas, and a Texas under GWB.

And, did they send this to the FBI ten years ago rather than the SEC. The FBI had a Clinton appointee that was an appointee made as a favor to Republicans. (Doing favors to Republicans turned out to be a mistake, now I look on placating Republicans as stupid.)

No, this is the style of RW TROLL attacks. Just frame it so it sounds like Clinton failed at it, then have trolls run about exclaiming it as fact.
