Kudos, President Obama. That was leadership.
A public discussion with Senators and interested parties at the wrap up of the economic summit held in DC. And two thumbs up that it doesn't stop at this - there has to be follow up, from the public, the legislatures and the executive.

1. Yes indeed
I loved the part about the majority - a very subtle 'we won' moment. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
We haven't seen anything like this in decades and there was no doubt who is in charge.

3. That part was awesome. He said something to the extent that, yes, the majority
needs to ask for input and ideas, but that the minority must contribute real and new ideas and not just try to blow the thing up.

Classic Obama counter-punch that sent that puke onto the mat.

4. Obama: "The majority must be inclusive. But the minority must be constructive."
'The minority must offer their solutions. They cannot just sit back and blow everything up.'

I saw that too and it made me smile.

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Thursday cited "some unsettling times" in the U.S. housing and credit markets as he sought to assure jittery Americans that the economy is holding up well despite worries about a recession.

"I say that the fundamentals of our nation's economy are strong," Bush told a White House news conference.

Inflation is down, markets are steady, unemployment is relatively low, exports are up and corporate profits seem to be healthy, Bush told reporters.

He was asked about concerns by some economists that the housing slump and higher mortgage costs could lead to a recession even in spite of action earlier this week by the Federal Reserve to cut short-term interest rates by a half-percentage point.

"There is no question that there is some unsettling times in the housing market and credits associated with the housing market," the president said. But he said he didn't see that spreading to the broader economy.

Bush said he was optimistic about the economy. "But I would be pessimistic if I thought Congress was going to get their -- and they're not. We're not going to raise taxes," he added.

7. Rather than treat the American people as children....
he is having a conversation with adults, telling it like it is. It is a refreshing change to be sure.

8. Oh, Obama's just showing off
Wait until George W. Bush gets done reading the summary of meetings from his Waco Economic Summit (does anyone even remember that fiasco?). You'll see some real economicking then! 'Cause Bush has an MBA! From Harvard!

12. LOL. Bush's thesis was "Epic Fail, a Blueprint for Disaster, Blamed on Others."
And he bought it from a bunch of cronies. Man didn't have an original thought in his head as President, except that Commander-in-Chief mantra he sullied, and hid behind.

9. It was fun to watch President Obama play Whack-A-Mole
The Republicans whine about "bipartisanship", but will not support any of President Obama's suggestions or ideas. He nailed them, in a big way, and with a smile on his face.

I LOVED it.

but a good job today. :kick:

10. Very impressive
There is no effective counter-argument to 'yes, we have to be inclusive, but you have to be constructive.'

I also liked how he distanced his authority from that of Congress.

He is going to be a really, really great President.
