Exxon Screws People Affected by its Spill

This made me really sad. There are already so many pictures of the terrible damage done to the Alaskan coast from the Exxon oil spill, but to hear that they are now failing to help the people they hurt makes me sick. I should add though, that I am not in any way surprised. Is there an Exxon boycott or anything going on that I could join?

2. The best way to screw Exxon is to not buy oil in general

If everyone who hated Exxon avoided buying gas, the price would be below a buck a gallon.

3. No-Good Hazelwood .. they knew all the time.

Joe Hazelwood had a thick file of alcohol-related infractions at Exxon. It dated way back to his days as a crew-boat skipper on the Louisiana Gulf coast.

but the people I know who have rate it very highly. Riki Ott is certainly someone who knows what she's talking about

7. Exxon's was a arrogant and negligent corporate culture long before Valdez ..

Exxon's negligence in Alaska and their prior negligence in Louisiana came together in an almost pre-ordained chain of errors that culminated in the Valdez disaster. But Exxon learned nothing from Valdez. Not a fucking thing. The corporate hubris continued until they had their oilmen in the White House, and then it exploded into full-fledged profiteering, the likes of which we have never seen before. The poster-boy for the wanton excesses of Exxon? Lee Raymond.

And I agree, it seems they've learned nothing. We can only hope that steps have been taken to drain those tanks over there at the base of Redoubt as it continues to rumble and threatens to blow.
