It should also be noted the CBO also said the stimulus would actually hurt the economy in the long run. Obviously money spent at home is better than money spent on war though. Hopefully Obama's fiscal responsibility plan will mitigate both, reinstating and making permanent the line item veto would go a long way. Though it could be misused by future repub administrations. Virtually every Republican Administration since Hoover has put the US into Recession. Recession only happened in one Democratic Administration. History shows how the economy fairs under Republicans. The last time the Republicans had a Majority in both houses and the Administration we had the Great Depression. This time may even be worse. This is a Republican created problem and it will be a Democratic created recovery.
