2. Well I'll not complain about her absence
since Alison is here for her. She's very smart too plus I like her snark. I like her.

5. I do.
I like both Racheal and Keith but Alison is a perfect back-up choice for either. And a possible canidate for a show of her own down the road.

6. Setting what in for Rachel?
Or do you mean sitting in?

Set is a transitive verb and requires a direct object. You set something down. "I am setting this book on the floor." "Alison Stewart is setting a cup of coffee in front of Rachel."

Sit is an intransitive verb and requires no direct object. You sit down, or on a chair. "I am sitting here until hell freezes over."

11. My friends call me the
grammar witch.

Imagine what my not-friends call me.

And no, I cannot change spark plugs. But I can crochet.

13. I'm serious. I'll zap you. I get by by knowing good grammar when I hear it...
but get stuck occasionally on where to place words.

They didn't really teach grammar when I was growing up.

I had the good fortune to attend schools in a time and place when it was taught. Plus, I actually love the topic. I would like to take a college level English grammar class and nail down the stuff that I'm not sure of.

added on edit:
I do make my own careless mistakes here on DU, mainly when I don't bother to re-read my posts before posting. I've considered applying for the Grammar Overlord here.

9. Allison is doing great!
Let her have the next hour! I have always liked her, and there is nothing wrong with promoting from within. It's kind of a good thing, actually!
