This is a 40 year recovery, not a 6 or 7 month recovery.

6. yeah... I've been wondering what people expect when they hear "recovery"

I'd settle for relative stability in the stock market and a sane flow of credit, an employment market where people can switch jobs relatively freely if they want/need to, and income levels at which we can provide for ourselves without going into debt while saving reasonable amounts for retirement. That sounds like more than enough to me--maybe that level of security is too much to ask from a recovery.

Certainly materially, people can't possibly go back to the patterns of consumption that were the norm just a year ago, when we were brainwashed by magazines and TLC programs to believe that spending $500 on a purse wasn't a nutty thing to do.

4. I just came from my shiny new (less than a yr old) Target. A lot of shelves

were empty. I was in the store for an hour looking for stuff and walked out empty handed. Then I went to my recently (less than a yr) expanded and remodeled Home Depot.. I also walked out empty handed because the item I wanted wasn't in stock. There also were a lot of half filled shelves. :shrug: I tried.
