London was bombed
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 06:36 AM by SoCalDem
and bombed and bombed and bombed.. Nightly ...for months and months and months.

and in the morning, the ones who were not injured or dead, dusted themselves off, got dressed and went to school or to work..

CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE if that had happened here?

Of course, maybe people were different then, but from the attitudes I hear and read about, there are many people here who think that nothing"bad" should ever happen here..

Why?

Are we "special"?

we ARE in some danger, but it's a danger the ordinary citizen cannot really do anything about..

People who live in tornado alley, know that there will be tornadoes, but they still live there... people in Florida know there will be hurricanes, but they stay there too.

our "leaders" have been busily poking hornets' nests for decades, and now we are swatting hornets.. Is anyone really surprised?

the panicky paranoia we have exhibited for the last 5 years has shown the world we are scared and jumpy

we are "fair game"..

Lions have a name for the gimpy antelope....

Lunch !

3. yep.. we freaked out, invalidated our constitution, withdrew from the world
because airport security lapses allowed an attack, but we don;t see any problem in killing innocent people daily..and ruining their cities in the process..

we flipped out and they are supposed to just "step up the the plate" and fix it all.

4. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation
I don't think America is in danger of suffering a sustained bombing campaign.

However the OP is relevant in terms of the standoff with Iran in that the Iranians will be able to withstand whatever military attacks are directed at them (and potentially come out stronger in the long run).

The real threat to Americans is economic, particularly if the oil supply is disrupted due to Bushco's actions (which are more likely to make America implode from within).
