Iraq: the hidden cost of the war

America won't simply be paying with its dead. The Pentagon is trying to silence economists who predict that several decades of care for the wounded will amount to an unbelievable $2.5 trillion.

Dontcha-know that once they get those newfangled artificial legs & arms and get mustered out and sent back to Podunk, USA (86 miles one way to the nearest VA hospital), they're back in their Momma's Loving Arms..

She can quit her job and take care of her boy/girl..right alongside of Grandma & Grand dad, and the two grandkids ..

and if these soldiers can't "pull themselves up by their bootstraps", then they just aren't trying hard enough...

:sarcasm:

6. Exactly what I was thinking,
My taxes help pay for the health care of the poor, the old, the vets and in many states the young, all of which I don't mind, but why won't my taxes pay for mine?

5. That would be about $1.24 million per year based on 45,000 seriously

...wounded veterans over a 45 year period based on an average age of 22 years old. I would begin by getting back all of the tax breaks Bush awarded to the rich.
