If You Won a HUGE Lottery, Do You Think You Could Help End the War?
I'm talking about $500 million.

My thought is to invest it in a few interesting avenues.

- Anti-war hip-hop music. Sponsor contests for lyrics, find someone to air them.
- Billboard messages.
- financing a new Michael Moore type movie

The thing is, even though it seems like a lot of money to ME, it's such a drop in the bucket when it comes to buying a politician... or even getting on TV.

We'd have to find some incredibly creative ways to stretch it out... but MAYBE it would make a difference.

What do you think?

1. Think tanks, opposition research, candidate support
Basically an inverse Scaife operation. Spend it over 10 years and see how much influence it could buy...

3. Okay, seriously? I've been trying to do that for a while now.

No, seriously, it's one of my hobbies (relax, I only buy tickets when the jackpots are up really, really high and that's only a few times a year). My plan for using the "instant celebrity" of my lottery win to help stop the war would involve scheduling a press conference for the day I cashed the ticket, then going CRAZY to get as much media attention as possible--refusing to say anything to mass media unless it was a statistic about/statement against the war, making really inflammatory statements about the war and those who support it--just generally making a spectacle of myself for as long as possible. After the initial ruckus died down, I think I'd funnel some money to Cindy and other anti-war groups, start throwing money at anti-war candidates, make my own "Fahrenheit 9/11," write a book, etc. Finally, I'd see if reality t.v. had a place for me.

If none of that worked--start my own independent t.v. station. Somehow.

4. I suppose so
but I dislike lotteries greatly as they are voluntary subsides of the rich.

I guess Iraq War > Class War(for now).

5. First thing: FREE CLINIC in my home town.
Next thing: 20 million for the premier AIDS research and treatment clinic (don't remember the name...have it in the home computer).

Next thing: No Kill Animal shelters.

6. I'd probably direct it elsewhere.
I think it would be better spent on chairites for the poor and things like that.

8. Those wouldn't do a thing, really.
I mean, anti-war hip hop music? Billboards? Americans are already against the war. A better bet (but still one that would probably fail) would be to spend it on lobbying.

9. I think I would buy a hot tub
But I'm not sure that would be effective in stopping war. Actually I would put my money into candidates rather than media messages.
