Poll: Obama address hit the mark - Rethugs are trying to dance on the head of a pin here

A quick post-speech poll suggests that President Obama succeeded at his goal.

According to the CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey of Americans who watched the address, 68 percent said their reaction to his address was extremely positive and another 24 percent somewhat positive.

Also, 85 percent said his speech made them feel more optimistic about the country's path in the next few years.

Asked whether Obama's policies would move the country in the right direction or now, 88 percent answered the right direction, up from 71 percent in a pre-speech poll, and 82 percent said they generally supported the economic plan he outlined.

1. Thise numbers are absolutely unheard of.
Of course there is some selection there, in that the hard-core haters were undoubtedly off pouting somewhere and listening to rebroadcasts of Rush or something, but still...

4. I've Already Heard The Counterspin...
C-SPIN read an article that claimed the President's speech had similar ratings to the first speeches of Clinton and booooosh. It's the "honeymoon" ya know.

What was telling to me was watching the "people meters" while the speech was going. It was as though you were watching your own emotions rise along with the nation as the President hit on another important point or theme. Clinton had the ability to create this kind of synergy but in an attempt to overpower where President Obama does it to rally. It's a fascinating thing to both watch and be a part of.

The GOOP continues to deny reality...they've done it for so long it's all but Pavlovian now. The only thing that unites is hate and negativity as they have no positive plans or solutions. I rolled when Tweety all but tore Jindal's speech to shreads...especially the part where he cited the GOOP has NO plans. Their message no longer works and their mighty Wurlitzer now plays to small crowds. Their big battle is within their tent...if they give up obstructionism, they lose the last thread that holds the party together. This isn't about winning a debate with the American people, it's their own selfish survival.

Cheers...

:hi:

5. No, that's not dancing on the head of the pin.
That's squirming on a pin that has already transfixed them. ;-)
