I'm so proud to be a DU'er ....

Just took a peek over at Freeperland to see what the reaction was to Elizabeth Edwards announcement concerning her cancer. Most of the posts were kind and sympathetic, but there were some that were mean spirited and vicious, and I won't reproduce them here because of that. That being said, after reading through the many posts about Tony Snow, all I can say is "I'm proud to be a DU'er" because I see nothing but concern and care for his condition. Granted, many of us here don't care for him mainly because of the job he holds but it's comforting to know we are a decent, caring lot that has a heart full of humanity.

Thank you for reaffirming my beliefs.

But nobody should suffer through cancer. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

Stick around here long enough and there will be some nasty sarcastic stuff. Even the repeated comments connecting the reaction to the Edwards vs. Tony falls into the same trap of politicizing cancer.

The mods will have some work today I'm sure.

Tony is the sleaziest but at the end of the day we are all just humans. Fragile bodies with families who love us. I think that you are right that most of us here can keep our humanity but unfortunately a few of us might release some anger here.
