Obama's speech vs. Jindal's speech (from a Louisianian)
I loved Obama's speech last night so much that I watched it three times, plus listened to the C-Span callers' opinions (no contest -- Obama won everyone over, including several Republican voters; only one caller said he didn't get anything out of it). I had goosebumps listening to & watching him & I was so proud...

...until Jindal spacewalked to the microphone to give a disconnected reply to a speech he evidently hadn't heard (pre-taped, I suppose, & probably written for him by the GOP). I was so embarrassed listening to his lame demeanor, his talking down to the audience as though we were pre-schoolers, & how out of sync his speech was to Obama's.

The silver lining on that dark cloud could be that Jindal's pathetic performance will have lost a lot of support of Louisianians he held before the speech. Even Republicans on C-Span were impressed by Obama & had nothing positive to say about Jindal.

Obama was like a Mercedes Benz to Jindal's broken down, 30-year old Rambler.

Living in the red state of Louisiana, I probably should be thankful for Jindal's speech last night, but at the time, I could have been listening to 8-inch fingernails slowly scrape across a 20-foot chalkboard.

1. How do people feel about him turning down part of the stimulus?
I see Palin has said she would turn down 50%.

6. Last week or so I read the Times-Picayune article & the comments following it
and the people were overwhelmingly behind him. It could be that the site is visited mostly by those who voted for him, really.

I was just looking at the site, reading an article, "Chris Matthews says 'Oh God' before Gov. Bobby Jindal spoke", though, & there's a number of comments defending Jindal.

I added my own comments:

"The only thing I fault Chris Matthews for is that he didn't wait until after the space cadet-like speech to utter, "Oh, God". That's how I felt after I heard Jindal's disconnected speech, which was to be the GOP's reaction to Obama's speech.

I was SO EMBARRASSED as a Louisianian. I could have been listening to 8-inch nails being slowly scraped across a 20-foot chalkboard as Jindal talked down to his audience as though we were pre-schoolers. Was he on medication?

Jindal talks about taking 98% of the stimulus package -- all except the extended unemployment relief -- out of PRINCIPLE. It's quite embarrassing that his "principle" is to slap down the already downtrodden.

Jindal may be popular among the cold-hearted in Louisiana, but when he steps out into a national setting, he sounds pretty ridiculously out of touch.

Oh, God, help us."

But there are lots of critical comments here

2. I hope for your sake that Lousianans turn against him
not only for this speech, but for turning down money that would help the unemployed and which would help folks get jobs. Really, all his Democratic opponent needs do in the next election is remind folks of these two acts and Jindal will lose.
