Good luck, Tony Snow.
An AP article describes the recurrence of Tony Snow's cancer:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070327/ap_on_go_pr_wh/tony_snow_cancer;_ylt=AnXmKoSyww.L.zYjLnbccN2s0NUE?

I'm not pleased by any other human being's misery or misfortune. I don't know whether his plans include staying on as White House Press Secretary, but I should suspect it would be difficult for him to concentrate both on his recovery and his duties as spokesman; whatever he should choose to do will be the right course for him. I don't much care for his previous career at FNC, nor his role at the White House, but I hope he is able to overcome this rotten disease and make his way back to full health.

I think most or all DUers are on the same page with me. Remember the Right saying we were all wishing Cheney had been killed by that bomb, implying that we are all crass and immoral? Take this opportunity to refute that notion, and register your good wishes with me:

I'm thinking of you, Tony. Get well.

2. He has the best medical care money can buy..
I hope for his speedy recovery, but don't neglect that he works for a man that has seen an increase of uninsured during his presidency. If I had what Tony has I would be left to die since I am uninsured. But good luck to him!

3. Some people would say that Tony Snow needs to stay clear of Katie Couric.
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 10:11 AM by originalpckelly
Seriously, what's with that woman? Out of all the people in the world to go apeshit on someone with cancer and her husband, I think that's just about the cruelest thing I've ever seen and so unexpected. You'd think she understands how hard it must be.

4. what is the survival rate for liver cancer these days?
I recall a member of our church going very quickly after being diagnosed with liver cancer, though I think with him it was discovered quite late...

it seems progress has been made on so many types of cancer in recent years, but I'm not sure liver cancer is one of them.

i'm afraid his family is in for a rough time.

will send prayers for him...

http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/l/liver_cancer/prognosis.htm

liver cancer for white person 7 percent survivable. Doesn't look good for old tony. better brush up on his prayers for forgiveness as his lies of empowerment for bushit will certainly be on the docket when he gets to the non gop real judge.

12. Those stats are for primary liver cancer, if I'm not mistaken.
Tony has secondary.

13. It's probably not liver cancer.
My understanding is that it's his colon cancer metastasized to the liver, as opposed to a primary liver cancer. In other words, those aren't liver cancer cells - they're colon cancer cells that got lost. He would benefit from the treatments advances that have been made in treating colon cancer.

From what I remember from a family member who had something similar (breast cancer that metastasized to her lungs), they treat this with chemo drugs known to work well with colon cancers, not liver cancers.

In either case, all the best to Tony and his family - he's in for a VERY rough road.

10. Well said
We can all support Tony Snow with our best wishes in his struggle. He has had one of the most stressful jobs in government which just may have taken a physical toll. He and Elizabeth Edwards are both fighters, and may they both win against this affliction.

15. I lost my father to colon cancer that moved to the liver.
That was more than 20 years ago. Hopefully, cancer treatment has advanced enough to give Tony Snow a better chance.
I will be praying for him.

24. I can't help but think of all the people in this country who get cancer
and have no money and no insurance. It's a sad state when the wealthiest country in the world lets its citizens go through that anguish.:( It's sinful. It really is. Tony's one of the lucky ones. It just goes to show you...money can't buy everything and it certainly can't buy you good health if the genes you're born with determine otherwise.
