O.M.G. Who has seen the HBO documentary Right America Feeling Wronged?
WOW

God Help Us All.

These people are CRAZY AS HELL.

They believe Obama is
A terrorist
Osama Bin Laden
The antichrist
A muslim
Hitler

They are all crying. One "christian" guy assaulted another guy for displaying an Obama sign.

I cannot really feel as happy about Obama as I might knowing how so many truly hate him. Obama is to the right what Bush was to the left. Even *I* would not have cried had Obama lost the way some of these rabid morans reacted and I am a die hard dem.

Some of their comments:
"I want someone who is going to fight the terrorists and not just let them destroy us."
"Barack Obama is a con man ...he's grown up in cities all of his life. The only thing Obama can do to redeem himself? Drop out of the race.
"If the right people in the world wake up and realize McCain is the guy then God will save our land." :wtf:

3. This documentary is disturbing to watch.
It goes to show that extreme hate leads people to want to believe the outrageous.

4. I have had the same appliance repair guy
for over 10 years. Monday he fixed my washing machine and then as usual sat at the kitchen table with me for a visit. He is a Vietnam war vet, a successful business man whose hobby is breeding quarter horses, grown children. He is a kind and gentle man, always fair and dependable, and our visits have always been sweet.

Holy Crap! He is suicidal about Obama. Doesn't know if he can go on.

I was speechless.

These people are so afraid.

11. What did you say?
You said you were speechless, which may make my question irrelevant, but I wonder, if you weren't literally speechless, did you try to talk to him? Do you think his views are so entrenched that that conversation wouldn't even be worth having?

And where do you think it comes from? Is it his church? Rush?

I truly wonder about where such fear (and hatred, in other cases) can come from.

21. he gob smacked me
I was speechless because he is so fragile. I encouraged him to have faith in Americans pulling together for the greater good. And yes I am thinking it's the radio freaks that spark him up. I invited him to come to our little strange family gathering this weekend.

16. Agree to a suicide pact with him and then don't pull the trigger.
Either that or call 911 right away and tell them that he is suicidal. The dude needs some serious help.

24. actually he went to Vietnam at age 17
and came home injured after a 15 month stay. His mum did not recognize him because he actually grew 8 inches over there.

I never guessed before that he was a repuke because he is so lovely a man in every other aspect. My heart aches for his misery and I could never be glib about his service to our nation.

be exiled to the margin of American society. They need to be in exile, shunned by the rest of us, their voices NOT heard, their opinions NOT respected.

Frankly, it's time the intellectual elite out there have a chance to fix this country, and that means that Joe Six-Pak needs to sit on the sidelines, to shut the fuck up and get out of the way while others fix the mess that the Rs made.

Do ya feel like second-class citizens? Well, boo frickity hoo, ya mothers.

13. precisely
They need to be in exile, shunned by the rest of us, their voices NOT heard...

My sentiments exactly, every word of what you wrote--right down to "boo frickity hoo."

What pains me about idiots like this getting "a voice" is that as an educator, my life is spent helping people develop their thinking and communication skills so they have a voice worth listening to.

Then they devote a program to the moronic ravings of people like this.

then they could go home & beat up the little woman...

no wimminfolk at work either..just he-men who like to live out a Dukes of Hazzard lifestyle..

Like our own Taliban...

8. It was a challenge, but I managed to watch the whole thing.
God, what a crazy bunch of fuckers!

Crying, wailing, cussing, using racial epitaphs, and holding their hatred and their ignorance as close as a parent holds a baby.

They are freaks.

Fucking freaks.

20. I cried literally every day from the 2000 election
until November 2008. In fact, I still have some weepy moments because times are and will be very difficult for a time because of the destruction of so much in such a comparatively short time, but at least now I have some hope.

But I also pulled up my bootstraps and went back to work. It was thankless, disheartening and soul-destroying for much too long ... until people like Howard Dean began to say out loud and clearly all the things that I had been feeling, but that no Democrats in Congress since Paul Wellstone, with the occasional exception of Robert Byrd (whoodda thunk!!), were saying. Then I began to believe, once again. It's been a long time to be out in the cold and I'm still chilled.

As much as I detested BushCo and ever single thing about them (and detest them still), I'd like to believe that I did not look or sound even half as unbalanced as these people. My abhorrence was, and is, fact-based. Theirs is based on mass hysteria created by whatever Rush and the radical RW evangelical crew say.

Therein lies all the difference.

A lot of scared people who have been brought up and conditioned to believe terrible things. And the other ones were just assholes.

OF course they are afraid. They have been controlled by fear for years. It's like a drug to them.

When the world doesn't end hopefully they can begin withdraw.

17. Was the entire thing filmed in one afternoon outside a Palin-McCain rally?
There was so much hatred and fear going on with those crowds that I am not surprised about it anymore.

It still makes me sick when I see it. I don't have HBO, so I hope its available on DVD soon.

Does it have any insight about the origin of some of the conspiracy theories? Radio? Church? Email forwards?

19. Some of them are batshit crazy.
A lot of them have been fed an exclusive diet of shit 24/7. From their churches, to their media, and to the politicians who pander to them. Palin is a perfect example. She tells these people, who are paranoid enough, that Obama 'pals around with terrorists.' McCain doesn't peep and set the record straight. Here is a decorated Vietnam vet, former POW, etc. and he lends credence to this crap. He is the highest form of coward in my book.
It's easy to laugh at these people. However, there are more of them than you think, and it won't be possible to marginalize them easily. If you were told what they were told, you'd be scared shitless too.
