What if the Palin(s) and Jindal(s) the GOP are part of a bigger plan.

My wife wanted to post this: Please, my wife didn't want to sound rude or racists but this is what she seems to see happening.



What if the GOP wants to put these individuals out front like Palin and Jindal as a way of keeping us off guard. They want to give the illusion of being "forward" thinking and giving their party a new face of diversity BUT if you look at their "front runners for the President" and "Rising Stars" are they seriously putting stock in these people or are they creating a 2 fold front. 1) Giving the Democrats a chance to lower their guard 2) Some of their own party members so frustrated that when they finally and actually run a serious candidate he (more than likely)/she regardless of their personal view points or stance will have the "presents" of a true leader that the person will be taken seriously.


It is the only explanation she can come up with to explain Palin continuing to be in the spot light and the Jindal person being consider seriously as a front runner.

2. Please remember

Bush and the neo-cons have taken the GOP off a cliff.
They have no shot at beating Obama in 2012 (unless he blue dresses it).
They are gonna take another beating this year, and next year.

So.
They don't have much options.

The future isn't with these redneck hillbillies (Palin/Jindal). The future is corporate moderates like Specter, Snow, Collins.

Without a doubt, Palin/Jindal is a head fake. Trouble is, there ain't nothing to replace them with. And a bankruptcy of ideas and ideals will leave the GOP out in the wilderness for some time.

3. It's Known As Windowdressing...

This isn't a new trick...the GOOP has tried to pretend they're a more inclusive party than they are for the past 20 years. And they're no better at it now than when they tried to foist a JC Watts or Liddy Dole on the scene. It's an attempt to immuize them from being called what they are...a party of white, middle-aged male christians...the old boys network...no women, blacks, hispanics, catholics or any other non-WASP group is welcome.

I don't see Jindal or Mooselini fooling anyone on our side...not even close. We've seen how Palin has alienated women in last year's election rather than attract them, and I don't see any upside in Jindal in bringing in anything more than a handful of Hindu-Pak votes. He's surely has no roots in the black community or any other besides the GOOP club...and then he's always been seated at the back. He uses them to be "accepted" and they use him to pretend they're "inclusive". All a big charade.

Consider these people also smokescreens. They'll take the media attention and heat while other candidates work below the radar in setting up their financial and political networks.

All the talk about 2012 is verbal masturbation at this point. Honestly...how many people though President Obama would be the 2008 candidate at this point in 2005? Right now it's all distractions and not much more.

There's gonna be a lot of fun watching the GOOPers over the next 3 years try to rebrand themselves and then rebrand again and again...but still offer the same old crap.

4. I don't think it's an issue

I hope one or both of them are on the Republican ticket in 2012 but this whole talk of front runners for the next election is wild speculation at this point. Something that is almost never right. Eighteen months ago there was NO question that Hillary would win the Democratic primary and that Rudy was the front runner for the Republicans while McCain was nearly ass-broke.

5. The GOP isn't smart enough to have that strategy.

Its every man for himself.

Their strength comes from them all following a message in lockstep.

I expect Newt to run. He has the brains to reconstitute the GOP, but they won't listen to him and will move further right. They'll pick someone like Palin or Jindal who can brainlessly parrot the talking points.

7. I don't think they're that smart, really. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one.

McCain went for a gimmicky "woman" pick to jazz up his failing campaign, hence Palin (much like Mondale did).

That's why we have Palin, not because of any great long range GOP plan.

Palin is a pinhead, but because she turns on the RWer 30 percent, and is intensely ambitious herself, she remains in the spotlight, more or less. She is probably wise to avoid really high profile appearances like Jindal's response for at least a year. She can't go wrong with low key mdia exposure that keeps her in the public eye but doesn't have the downside of a possible disaster.

Jindal is a guy whose resume looks good on paper but is apparently not a very talented politician to be vying for the Presidency. Happens a lot.
