Chris Matthews just ripped (R-Naturally) Darrel Issa of CA a "new one"....
Issa was going on about the "Democrat" Party, and Matthews tore into him for not calling it what Democrats call it - the Democratic Party. He called it Mickey Mouse and really lost his temper. I was so happy to FINALLY see someone publicly call out the childish Republicans for their McCarthy Era denigration of the DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!!

Hallelujah! Thank you Chris.......

3. It was during the first segment, interviewing Barney Frank and........
Darrell Isshole...um, Issa. I never saw an interviewee look so sheepish, I'm sure it'll be on youtube within hours.

I've been bashing my friends and others for that, but never saw it done on television or any public forum.

5. That "Democrat Party" meme has been a pet-peeve of mine for years ...
In fact, I think my first post on DU was asking others if
they'd noticed the slight and where it had its roots. (I
learned it predates Newtie and began back in the days of
Goldwater.)

8. It's most recent focus
was to equate Democrats with RATS. In an ad with subliminal RAT flashing across the screen.
Bureaucrat, Democrat, RAT.

12. I remember that ad -- the word unfurled across the screen ...
so that the "RAT" part at the end was in typeface several
times as large as the rest of the word ... Grainy photography
made it look like an old '30s stag film ... Not only are we
RATS but we're probably all PERVERTS too!

I don't know why anyone expects Republics to behave as if they had any class.

22. Wow, after years and years of listening to this crap . . .
So Matthews finally, after a charismatic Democrat is elected president by a large majority, takes on a Republican dog whistler. Such courage . . . Not!!!

I have been so angry that interviewers of all stripes have made a habit of letting this ridiculous "Democrat Party" phrase slip by without comment that I have thrown things at my television and shouted obscenities in my own home. No wonder Issa looked so surprised. All his little friends have been getting away with this for years.

At its nadir, some tv commentators were even doing using the term "Democrat Party" themselves.

One small advantage for me was that it was an easy way for me to figure out that whoever was using that phrase was a right-wing Republican hack reading GOP talking points, enabling me to switch stations without listening any further.

24. Better late than never, I guess
As much as I enjoyed seeing that smack down, I would have preferred to have seen it during the Gingrich days and all throughout the decade that followed. It seems more a sign of the times than anything. TV hosts don't scold their guests if they have any semblance of power.
