Janeane sat on the phone with a bonehead who goes by the moniker 'adenoid_hynkel' for two hours
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 02:43 AM by Adenoid_Hynkel
answering my college journalism questions in order to help me launch a progressive politics magazine from the local Kinkos.

She was as generous as a person could possibly be and gave me a large chunk of her evening that she's not getting back. And this was right at the start of the Iraq war when she probably had a lot of bigger and better things to do.

i'll defend Ms. Garofalo to the end. She's the real deal and is one of us.

4. Who attacked her? I saw the clip of her on Olbermann's show
and she was marvelous! The two of them were having an extremely intelligent conversation about what's wrong with El Rushbo. I could have listened to them all night. And my point stands too, if she knows who Adenoid Hynkel was, she's even MORE marvelous!!

3. Sure, she's a nice person.
But I don't think all of "us" would go work for Fox and that ridiculous television show, despite the big payoff.

6. I assume you work for a humanitarian non-profit organization.
Or not at all. Do you think working for GE, like Maddow and Olberman, is sinful? GE, after all, profits far more from mass murder and global war than does Fox. Or do you approve of war profiteers? Do you give money to China and their Corporate partners when you buy your shoes or TV or anything? Do you finance them because you approve? Or are you just simple?

7. I work for myself. I run my own business.
And yes, I assume I wear clothing that was made in China. But I don't go and protest sweat-shops while wearing clothes made from one.

I'm calling her out on what I perceive to be hypocrisy.

In actuality, I do like her and her politics. I just wish she'd stick to stand-up or maybe go back to radio.

9. So you don't protest sweartshops because you
get your clothes from them? Well, there's a definition of integrity I never imagined possible.

10. No, I don't protest them because I don't know if they come from sweatshops.
But if they did, and I did decide to protest them, I wouldn't be doing it while wearing them. The point I'm illustrating is that she has said multiple times how terrible television is, for instance, and how she doesn't own one. Then why does she work for television? And if she is going to work for television, why work for a company that completely goes against everything you believe?

I suppose my convictions outweigh my greed/need for money. To each their own.

By the way, as it turns out, the shirt I'm wearing right now was made in the UK of all places.

11. You're going to have to write all your rules down somewhere.
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 03:04 AM by ConsAreLiars
Do you permit polyester/cotton blends or eating shellfish? Do you allow wearing white socks? Do believe that since Garafalo works for Fox she should watch TV and praise them to meet your definition of moral purity?

Or do you just think that whatever/anything you do is morality personified and get yourself off by playing Puritan Preacher games?

(edit typo)

12. Not playing a Puritan by any means.
I just don't find hypocrisy endearing, especially from someone I actually like.

13. Get a mirror.
You may not have noticed it when it comes to your own actions, but you are doing the same as everyone who isn't fasting to death. You call it hypocrisy when Garafalo makes a living with capitalism, but not when you do. There can be no better example of hypocrisy than your own obsessive rantimgs and hysterical condemnations of Garafalo.

Get a mirror. Spend some serious time trying to look into it without closing your eyes. And look up "projection" in a medical dictionary.

14. Capitalism isn't the problem. It's her apparent lack of convictions.
Look up "strawman" in an English dictionary.

17. Your hypocrisy is the problem.
The beam in your eye. Pot-kettle, and all that. And perhaps a bit of obsessive stalking. You need help. If hypocrisy was your concern, you might actually target someone who is actually dishonest, like yourself or other cons. Seek help before this gets dangerous.

18. I am targeting someone dishonest.
In my opinion, if you spend years as a paragon of the anti-establishment far left only to, some years later, end up working for Fox on a show that promotes fear-mongering and torture then yes, you are a hypocrite. Do I need to link you to the infamous video of her on Fox and Friends in 2003 in which she lambastes Fox for being a mouth-piece for the far right? If she truly believes this, why would she compromise all of her beliefs and work for them, on such a television show? And saying "she needs the money" is as intellectually void as telling me, a stranger, that I need help or that I'm a "con." Or whatever other ad hominem attacks you'll resort to in your next reply.

And on that note, for being a stranger, you sure do think you know a lot about me. You sure you ain't the one projecting?

"Seek help before this gets dangerous."

Get a hold of yourself. Goodnight.
