You knew it was coming.......Airline considers "fee to pee"
from the BBC:

Ryanair mulls charge for toilets

Irish budget airline Ryanair has said it is considering charging passengers for using the toilet while flying.

Chief executive Michael O'Leary told the BBC that the Dublin-based carrier was looking at maybe installing a "coin slot on the toilet door".

Consumer group Which? said the airline was putting "profit before passengers".

Last week Ryanair confirmed it planned to close all of its airport check-in desks by the end of the year in a bid to reduce the cost of its flights.

'Fast buck'

Ryanair aims to offer low basic ticket prices, and then charge extra for items such as checking in at the airport or for additional luggage.

"One thing we have looked at in the past, and are looking at again, is the possibility of maybe putting a coin slot on the toilet door, so that people might actually have to spend a pound to spend a penny in future," he told the BBC. .......(more)

3. If I've got to go, they've got two options
I can either pee in the aisle, or use the toilet. If they put a coin slot on the door, it will be the aisle just out of the sheer principle of the matter.

8. And Will The Also Charge Extra For Armed Guards?
A couple years ago I was on a flight where the front crapper went out shortly after take-off and the rear one was having problems as well...not a good sign on a 4 hour flight from LA to Chicago. The line grew long and irate as a combination of nature and a backed up crapper freyed nerves...or to quote my mother, "it was ready to come squirting out of their ears".

A long time ago, the airport learned to remove their "10 cent hapinesses" after people vandalized them and I could just imagine the "delight" on the eyes of passengers who find out, after take off on a 6-hour flight that they'll have to ante up. Stupid is as stupid does...another reason I've stayed clear of airlines and airports these days. If it's not the greed, it's the lack of any passenger or customer service or respect.

Ryanair sucks. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more to fly Aer Lingus.

19. Screw that
If I can't drive or take the train, I'll be taking the ocean liner.

After that plane crashed into a house in Buffalo, the drunken pilot story, and Sully's testimony before Congress, I don't trust the airlines.

No more flying for me.

22. hmmm.... we've got catheters at work
lordy! no way - why don't they just raise their fare one pound - then the passengers will just think it's inflation (or probably won't even motice it) and won't complain over the lack of basic services?

32. They've more or less admitted it was a publicity stunt, and won't actually happen
The chief executive is well known for trying to get free publicity for the airline by getting into the headlines.

Michael O'Leary, the budget airline's chief executive, revealed today that it is considering coin slots on cubicle doors.

"One thing we have looked at in the past and are looking at again is the possibility of maybe putting a coin slot on the toilet door so that people might actually have to spend a pound to spend a penny in future," he told BBC Breakfast.
...
Stephen McNamara from Ryanair said: "Michael makes a lot of this stuff up as he goes along and while this has been discussed internally there are no immediate plans to introduce it."

He added: "Not everyone uses the toilet on board one of our flights but those that do could help to reduce airfares for all passengers. Then again, maybe O'Leary was just taking the piss this morning."
