Octuplets' mom inspires embryo regulations -- in Georgia

First came the octuplets. Now come the regulations.

Georgia state Sen. Ralph Hudgens has introduced an "Ethical Treatment of Human Embryos Act," which, among other things, would not allow doctors to transfer more than two donated eggs or embryos in any treatment cycle in that state.

The bill has not yet been voted on. The Republican lawmaker's action comes after Whittier mother Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to octuplets Jan. 26 and has been the center of a growing controversy ever since, revealed that her doctor transferred at least six embryos.

Multiple births put both mother and children at increased risk of complications, including birth defects and death.

Glad to see our Georgia lawmakers working so hard on issues important to our state. It isn't as if they have anything else to do, like working on next years budget, or even the current one.... :sarcasm:
