Excellent thread at Free Republic shows the deep divisions within the GOP's far-right wing. Without getting into their issue (which I found very worthwhile), the problem this shows is that very few leaders are acceptable to the RW. Yet they have to open up their party in order to become competitive again.

In my opinion, it won't happen. The divisions are too deep, and right-wingers are not known for opening up.

1. Well, the basic deal is that the wingers have really, really

narrow viewpoints, and many of them are true one-issue voters. That tends to put them constantly at odds with each other. Nowhere is that more visible than in religious discussions.

It doesn't help that most of them are also borderline intelectually. Read a few threads over at Free Republic, and that's clear.

So, they pretty much hate each other, except on the one or two issues where they agree. That's not enough, though, and the Mormon-haters would never vote for Romney. If another candidate comes up, they'll find a reason to hate that person, too.

That's why morons like Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal work so well for these mental defecatives. They don't really express any ideas, so they don't leave themselves open for the hatred so common among wingers.

This is why they fail.

I shouldn't be surprised though.
