Bankers who make millions get more costly tax-subsidized lunches
Edited on Fri Feb-27-09 09:07 PM by CreekDog
Knowing that, can anybody argue in favor of depriving a child of a proper lunch?

(a lunch that is much less costly than the subsidy for a deductible business lunch)

frankly, i would like to hear that our nation is wasting money on feeding and educating children.

children's nutrition and education is NOT where i EVER want to see our nation skimp or ration.

4. Most schools don't give anything at all
Completely overlooked in the cheese sandwich article. Three states have a sandwich policy, most of the rest don't give the kids anything. Do people know, or even care about, the policy of their own school district? I bet 3/4 of the people appalled at the cheese sandwich live in districts who let kids starve and don't even know it.

"Swift added that the cheese sandwiches — about 80 of the 46,000 meals the district serves daily — can be considered a "courtesy meal," rather than an alternate meal.

Some districts, she noted, don't allow children without money to eat anything.

Albuquerque Public Schools "has historically gone above and beyond as far as treating children with dignity and respect and trying to do what's best with for the child and I think this is just another example," Swift said."

6. Lunch policy
Although I didn't respond to the post that you mentioned I didn't know most school districts gave nothing children who couldn't pay. Maybe you should make your response an OP.
