1. There is a parody video on youtube. The oddly funniest part of the commercial...
is the couple at the little league game IN their Snuggies

9. That's bad...and so is...
...the family of four, huddled outside around a campfire in their backyard--all of them wearing matching Snuggies.

I don't know what I'd do if I looked out my back window and saw a family of Snuggie-wearing freaks in a neighboring yard.

Call the cops, I suppose!

17. The chinese won't loan us any more money if we all wear these things
People look ridiculous in these, and can't be taken seriously. And we are the kind of people who WILL eventually wear them in public (see Crocs, the plastic crayola shoes).:scared:

It's one more example of a TV come on that has people hypnotized. Do you still use your salad shooter?

I'm not sad. I can afford heat, and Maher doesn't need it. He has a hot tub.

27. I am 62 yo "boomer" and I have come to a point that looking cool is not
the big deal it was when younger. I made a sewn together piece of cotton material that was pretty, square, could be folded and stacked on a shelf. Just a long piece of fabric with a hole for the neck and sewn down the sides. Took 20 minutes to make. Cost $10-$20 to make and extremely comfortable. Just to wear around the house and yard. Wore them for years and then I saw an interview with Gloria Vanderbilt on tv. She was wearing the same thing, only in expensive silk fabric shiny and golden. After the interview she walked out into the street to see the interviewer off. She wore it out on the street. And she was wearing a pair of white socks. I thought "Hmmm...if she can wear a muu muu on tv and on the sidewalk, by jove, I am going to wear mine to the Winn-Dixie!" I found gorgeous batiks that are in quilting sections of the fabric stores now and, there you go. It is just an Afghan man's garment. Many primitive people do not have clothes dryers, irons, electricity. Seems functional to me. I wear my crocs to work and anywhere. I polish them with Armor-all. when they get too grubby. I have a yard pair, but can't help but zip around the yard in my work crocs pulling weeds, tending to my chickens. Got heel spurs a few years back and have been in search of inexpensive shoes that support my feet. I wear my yard crocs in the shower to clean them, and support my feet while in the shower. There was an obnoxious post to the "Squall Line" in the local paper today that said: "Canadians, socks with sandals are not sexy. You look like an idiot." I have always worn sandals since college, even in the winter. I don't wear socks because I don't want to have to wash dirty socks, but my feet are battered, get very dirty wearing Birkenstocks in the Florida sand with the leaf litter I have out there. To hell with you young people and your rules. Get off my lawn!!

from an old quilt. She's a whiz at the sewing machine.

My problem with this is the name above all. SnugGY??? :wtf: Are we all children? Jindal talks to us as if we are, but we love to say cutesy things like "Veggies" instead of vegetables, and now "snuggies". Spare me! If we continue to use baby talk, then I'm not so sure he has his tone wrong. I no longer have a "Banky" or "sippy cup", so I put away words that go with that age. I eat vegetables and drive a car. There are no veggies or go-go zooms in my life.

I am at warzies over any more cutesy-pooing of the Engly Langzy-tee-hee.:eyes:

30. Clearly, you haven't heard of the upcomming Snuggie Pub Crawl in Chicago
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/living/2008795596_zliv27snuggie.html

By Vikki Ortiz

Chicago Tribune

Not only has Scott Boilen's company sold 4 million Snuggies (The Blanket with Sleeves!), but it has also introduced the world to such important innovations as Bendaroos (Amazing Flexible Building Sticks!); Aqua Globes (Never Worry About Leaving Plants Unattended Again!); and Topsy Turvy (Unique Upside-down Tomato Tree!)

Understandable, then, that the chief executive of Allstar Products Group LLC only recently heard about Chicago's Snuggie Pub Crawl.

More than 2,300 people have registered to barhop April 18 in downtown Chicago while wearing the monklike blankets that have sparked a cultlike following.

The two Chicago 20-somethings who introduced the idea on www.snuggiepubcrawl.com earlier this month moved the event to April to allow pub crawlers time to get their hands on — but not in! — the popular coverlets. Sister events are planned in 15 other cities. As of Friday night, 186 people had signed up for a Seattle event at www.snuggiepubcrawl.com/Locations/Seattle.

42. I think that the vast majority of criticism for the Snuggie and such like
Arises from jealousy, jealousy that they didn't think of a particular simple concept first, and then market it.

My thought, sure, it looks silly, but it does what it advertises, and somebodies out there took the risk of investing in it and making it a hot selling reality. Hey, it's the American way, and congratulations to them.

I used to think that the guy who came up with the idea was about the smartest guy around, no matter how cruelly I saw him lambasted in the press. I bet he cried all the way to the bank.

I still have the "Pet Rock Training Manual" that came with the one I got for Christmas as a kid. It's hilarious.

46. Another brilliant piece of marketing
Let's take a rock, apply a modicum of polish, run it through marketing, and voila, we can sell rocks to the masses.

Pet Rocks, Snuggies, Shamwows, all that stuff, the genius isn't in the product, it's in the marketing. It just goes to show that you can sell crap(and they have, literally) to the public if you dress it up enough. The power of marketing.
