Octomom rejects offer of free childcare and housing for chance to exploit her children
http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/us_world/Octo-Mom-Says-No-Deal-to-Free-Childcare-Housing.html

The offer by Angels in Waiting was made two weeks ago, and the group gave Suleman until Thursday to accept the proposal. The offer would have relied on public donations to help fund the infants' care.

Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents the group, said Suleman spoke with Angels in Waiting founder Linda West-Conforti and seemed to be more interested in "capitalizing on her infants" and doing a reality television show.

"Linda explained to her that Angels in Waiting would not agree to that because of their concern for possible infections that the infants might incur with camera equipment and many other people in the home in addition to the many professionals who would be with the children providing the care," Allred said. "Linda did not wish to risk the health of the little ones."

Questions have been continuing about Suleman's ability to care for the eight new children and the six she already had. Suleman is unmarried and unemployed.

She told talk-show host "Dr. Phil" McGraw this week that she feared Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center might not release her octuplets to her until she proves she can care for them.

Suleman, 33, and her six children had been staying with her mother at a Whittier home that is now in danger of foreclosure.

The octuplets -- six boys and two girls -- were born Jan. 26, nine and a half weeks premature. They are the nation's longest-surviving octuplets.

Hospital officials said Thursday the infants were doing well. All eight of the babies are breathing room air and no longer need intravenous supplemental nutrition.

"All eight of the babies are gaining weight and continue being fed donated pasteurized breast milk. The introduction of nipple (bottle) feeding is beginning slowly," according to a hospital statement.

5. Horrible mother and horrible person..........
hopefully those kids find other homes and get away from this deadbeat mom whose soul purpose for having all of them was for publicity.

6. 'capitalizing on her infants' But...but this is a Capitalist economy!
Exploiting your kids on teevee for $$ is as American as Apple Pie!

She just needs to wait til they're older, like those Duggars and Miniature People and Chopper Family and Bounty Hunter Families and...

HooRah!

7. She also apparently turned down an offer to do pr0n.
Some adult film studio was willing to pay her 1 mil. to do a film.

It wouldn't have been easy finding a co-star for her anyway.

9. I'd like to see Ms. Suleyman receive humane assistance, as I feel she needs it,
and I'd like to pick up a news story soon that tells me those kids -- both the recent 8 and the prior 6 -- will be cared for properly.

11. Yes, unrestrained breeding only gets celebrated when a man is head of the household.
Because we all know that men in two-parent households do the vast majority of the childrearing anyways.

that said, this whole situation is sick.

12. The offer would have relied upon public donations to pay for it
Seeing the negative public input that was left on her "please donate to my family" website, there would be probably no donations, so it would be short-lived.

I don't see her even getting to the "reality tv show" stage, she cannot properly take care of 8 preemies and 6 other kids by herself, she is right, the hospital isn't going to let her go home with all those kids with no proof that she can care for all of them.

13. Infections from camera equipment? LOL!
Suleman may be nuts, but this group sounds less than one hundred percent too. I suspect the offer was less than genuine, and came with too many strings for Suleman to accept.

14. These are 8 premies with compromised immune systems we're talking about.
So, yes, questions about possible infection from camera equipment, etc, are legitimate.

And I don't care WHAT kind of strings are attached when the offer comes from somebody whose concern is for the children's well-being, and not a reality show producer (which apparently is what Ms. Suleman is holding out for).

15. I'd be more concerned about the people operating the cameras
Perhaps I'm prejudiced against Gloria Allred--in my opinion she just gets involved in cases (like the Paula Jones case) because she wants the media attention. She's the one who is probably hankering for a reality show. I would have far more respect for this organization if they didn't have Allred attached to it.
