Can someone summarize for me what exactly really happened with Jindal and Katrina?

The fact with this lie is that it can be proven as a lie. The sheriff he refers to is dead. Jindel wasn't even in the same city where he claims he was.

Jindell screwed himself. On top of that after his other lie about money in the plan to build a train specificlly from Disneyland to Las Vegas Jindell took his family to guess where? Yep, Disneyland.

The Sheriff in question (now deceased) tried to get anyone with a boat to come help rescue folks from his parish in the aftermath of Katrina. He found out many weren't allowed to come because of insurance issues, and he phoned the Feds about it and complained. Jindal said in his speech that he had been there, and had added his weight as a Congressman to the complaint. However, it is now coming out that Jindal wasn't there--he was in Baton Rouge. He only found out about the incident three days later. He apparently commented on the situation then, when it was all history. Some speculate he lied about the story because the sheriff died in 2007 and he wasn't around to refute Jindal's claim.

lee was re-elected year after year, decade after decade, on a strong anti-black/racist platform, very thinly disguised as an anti-crime platform

jindal has never won a race where he faced significant opposition, he KNOWS that if he is to keep his office or achieve a higher office, at some point he has to win over the GOP racists

if you didn't understand the code/backstory of the message, don't feel bad, it's probably because you are not the type of person (a racist with an exaggerated fear of black folks committing crimes) that jindal is trying to appeal to
