Frustrated G.O.P. Tries to Drive Wedge Between Obama and Pelosi
By CARL HULSE
New York Times
Published: February 28, 2009

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama might be the new president, but to hear Republicans tell it, Nancy Pelosi is really running things.

At least that is how it appears from the way Republicans single out the speaker as the cause of everything from their near-blanket opposition to the economic stimulus legislation, to the 9,000 earmarks in the overdue spending bills.

“It’s disappointing that less than 24 hours after President Barack Obama urged Congress to restore fiscal responsibility, Nancy Pelosi’s House Democrats passed a spending bill laden with pork,” Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, said as he chastised the speaker.

Ms. Pelosi is indisputably a liberal political force and a person of fierce determination. But whether Republicans can succeed in portraying her as a one-woman legislative wrecking crew, keeping them from joining hands with Mr. Obama, remains to be seen.

1. Lol, Obama is really tying them in knots
They can't find a way to effectively criticize him so they are turning to Pelosi. Good luck with that strategy.

2. You know what? I want pork! I want earmarks and
I want my congressman bringing home as much of it has he possibly can. That's their job and there ain't a damn thing wrong with it. The conservative's problem with earmarks is based on their own problems with someone somewhere else getting something they perceive as their's. It's symptomatic of the conservative mental disorder.

5. That shocks the hell out of me, given how many folks just HERE
think Pelosi is a demon fallen from the bowels of Satan's ass.

6. Pelosi Knows Which Way the Wind Blows--She'll Stick Like Glue to Obama
She may be an unprincipled, over-privileged and power-hungry Speaker, but she's OUR Speaker. So she is tolerated until she gets way out of line, again.

I would be more impressed if I saw impeachment finally put on the table....for the BFEE. Better late than never.
