2. No.
It's getting vetoed. It doesn't matter one damn bit. The Republicans already gave up this fight.

4. of course it will be vetoed...But it will isolate and weaken Bush more...
which is what the 'Pukes in the senate want--so I take this to be good for us.

7. and the Dems can make some GREAT '08 campaign ads talking about the veto for troop funding.
I would say the repukes who voted for Liebermann's amendment will pay dearly in '08 too.

Democrats in Congress have now passed a bill that calls for concrete steps to end the Iraq war.

(on edit: actually, they have only defeated an amendment to remove those concrete steps).

If this President will not accept that, his party is going to suffer in 2008 at the hands of Americans who are voting to end this war. And then we will end this war. Today's legislative step was essential.

It's absurd to say that this doesn't matter one damn (sic) bit.

16. I'm trying to be upbeat.
Normally I'm on your side of the fence, but I'm not having the greatest of thoughts about this at the moment.

15. Like chess, always watch several moves ahead.
Of course this bill's going to get vetoed. Pelosi and the House Democrats knew this when they proposed this bill.

It means Bush is going to have to go on record vetoing this bill - which has $122 billion worth of funding "for the troops" (actually, there's already plenty of money from last September's appropriations bill to pay for the troops, and pay for them to make a safe, well-defended withdrawal from Iraq and redeployment back to the U.S.) He's going to have to publicly refuse to "support the troops" in order to make a case to not end a war that is atrociously expensive, unpopular, and bloody.

Trust me, Bush may eventually get his war money, but he's going to come out of this fight smelling like a turd (as if he doesn't already.)

5. EXCELLENT! Now the Psycho will have to veto it which will take funding away from the troops.
THAT will lay at HIS feet, not the Dems. Take THAT Liebermann!
