What kind of newspaper is the Chicago Tribune?

Apparently they printed an article about Obama that is the original source for a lot of comments by journalists this week. Is the Tribune an honest paper or one noted for hatchet jobs or what?

If you're not from Chicago, how would you rate your city's newspaper(s)?

Let me put it this way: To call my city's newspaper "birdcage liner" would be making a high compliment.

When our Cockatiel was alive the Sunday travel section of the La Times was his favorite "liner" to look at. he would immediately come down and eye it from all angles...

My own newspaper, The Syracuse Post-Standard is hard to rate because it publishes so little actual content! It did split its endorsements for the four or five congressional districts it covers last time around. (And if that isn't a sad statement, I don't know what is - one newspaper covering that many districts!)

is a problem - I stopped subscribing to LA Times when they bought it and started purging journalists and commentators (Sheer)

I dropped the trib when they endorsed the chimp. And boy did they get an earful from me. I also wrote a damn good letter too. I signed up for the daily herald for hubby who requires bathroom reading material. :) It's not bad.

10. The Trib is a right wing rag....

It hasn't evolved much from the time FDR refused to allow it in the White House. The Sun Times is nearly as bad these days too. Both major daily newspapers in Chicago are completely worthless.

I have a book from WWII by Bennett Cerf, basically a collection of ancedotes about famous people, and he jokes about how right wing the Trib was even back then.
