Tammy Duckworth Says Wounded Vets Should have Access to Private Specialist
Tammy Duckworth, Chief of Illinois Vet Affairs Tell senate panel wounded vets deserve care from private sector.

Wounded Iraq war vet Tammy Duckworth, now chief of vets affairs for Gov. Blagojevich, told a Senate panel on Monday that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is "absolutely not ready to treat amputee patients" at the same high level of care she recieved and should be allowed to get help from the private sector.

Bottom line here guys Congress lose is our gain for veterans.

1. I like that idea.
We are a wealthy country, our vets deserve the best. How about a law that any U.S. vet gets no cost health care for life anywhere in the U.S. This is the least the government could do for their sacrifice.

8. Health Care for Life
I disagree with this proposal. Veterans that have been in some way injured, physically or mentally, should be entitled to what ever medical treatment for however long it takes to either heal them or sustain them indefinitely. However, why should a veteran whose 3 years of military duty consisted of handing out basketballs at the gym in Fort Drum New York be entitled to free medical care? Millions of men and women have served in the armed forces in the last six decades, without the least injury or impairment, why does that entitle them to life long medical care?

4. it would probably cost less in the long run
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 08:51 PM by madrchsod
the care would be local and that would reduce the cost and time involved in driving to regional hospitals for treatment and rehab. i think tammy is spot on

6. Republicans argue this too, except what they don't say is that they don't want the government to pay
any money for this.

7. Hell yeah they should be permitted to receive care from the private sector,
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 09:09 PM by lonestarnot
but that might open the door to privatization of the medical care of wounded. Acccck War! PEACE FUCKING NOW BASTARDS!

We must allow treatment of wounded by the private sector and make the military foot the bill without opening the door for privatization.
