He is not interested in Surgeon General.

Since he didn't get HHS, he will do just what he said: work at a law firm part
time and the rest of the time "raise some hell" for causes he believes in. If
he raises enough hell on the bahalf of people least able to do it for themselves,
I'll bet Obama will in short order wish he had selected Howard for HHS, where at
Howard would have had to watch what he said as member of Obama's cabinet team.

All but the most open-minded and progressive Democrats (not to mention right
wing Republicans) have always been a little nervous when Howard spoke his mind
(the truth tends to do that to you if you aren't used to it).
