Walk across Lake Superior?
You almost could have on March 3.

A complete ice-over only happens about once every 20 years, but from space, it sure looked close.

A weather satellite held a rare sight on March 3: Lake Superior was almost completely covered in ice.
As first reported on WLUK-TV in Green Bay, Wisc., the lake was incredibly iced over compared with the same date in 2008.

Theoretically, the iced-over lake meant less snow for Michigan, especially the Upper Peninsula. But there was plenty of snow for this great photo to show how drastically the ice changed the view of the horizon.

This is so cool, can you imagine walking across the entire lake?

1. I remember readin about a year ago that Superior had lost
a huge amount of water due to evaporation because it seldom iced over anymore. This is good news.

3. Sadly, it doesn't signify the end of global climate change
or even hint at it. Models strongly point to cooling over the eastern US and heating up over the western US during winter, at least for a while.

5. No I cannot imagine walking over Lake Superior
Other than with dread. It's TOO far, what, 50 75 miles?
And cold? No. Maybe a snowmobile.
Global warming does actually cause colder temps in some areas, but overall, warmer.
