I just ran into a cyber typo squatter website while trying to come to the DU:

Man did that freak me out... I thought what happened to the look and feel are they trying some new CMS? Then I realized...DOH... I typo'd the URL.

and it really is called democraticunderground. I don't see how you could make a typo to mistakenly get there. How can it have the same address? It's a mystery to me. I have DU bookmarked, so never type it in.

With URLs that are common typos for popular sites. It's a way of picking up $ for links, I suppose.

9. that happens to me all the time.

I'm the worst speller on the planet in addition to being a terrible typist. I drop letters all the time, type the wrong word. (like I just now typed work instead of word and had to go back and fix it) Sometimes I wonder how anyone can read my posts! LOL

I'll never forget the time I was trying to get into a website that sells home accessories and typed in "domesticated" instead of "domestications". At the time it took me to a squatter page listing fetish lifestyle sites. :wow:
