Arizona to do the thinking for women...
The bills, among the first batch to receive final House approval this session, include several elements of anti-abortion bills vetoed in past years by Democratic former Gov. Janet Napolitano. House Bill 2564 would:

• Require that minors seeking an abortion first receive written, notarized consent from a parent or guardian.

• Mandate informed consent and a 24-hour "reflection period" before any adult woman could undergo the procedure.

• Bar any individual who is not a physician from performing a surgical abortion. Currently, the procedure is commonly performed by nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physician's assistants.

• Require that women inquiring about an abortion be informed of alternatives, the probable gestational age and physiological characteristics of their fetus, as well as government assistance available if it were carried to full term.

Bill sponsor Rep. Nancy Barto, R-Phoenix, called the provisions "reasonable regulations" and said the bill "strengthens the doctor/patient relationship." When it comes to abortion in Arizona, Barto said women too often aren't making an informed choice.

Democratic opponents countered that state law mandates no similar 24-hour waiting period for other surgical procedures, and Rep. Steve Farley, D-Tucson, called the proposal an "unwarranted intrusion between a patient and her doctor." Rep. Olivia Cajero Bedford, D-Tucson, said the measure "assumes that women don't think through their abortion decisions and that the state must do the thinking for them."

2. Considering the Lilly Ledbetter act was just signed to assure
women be treated equally via pay scales, I feel there are other areas were women are lagging far behind in other rights too. This is just another area were women in political positions need to stop disenfranchising other women.

3. Sickening!
What is next? Imagine if a man had a malignant mole and the Doc says, "Ya, Ill take it off, but the law says you have to come back tomorrow. Sweet dreams." And before anyone has a chance to say it, you better believe a pregnancy can kill the mother.

4. The 24 hour "reflection period" means that
a woman traveling from a long distance would have to stay in a hotel overnight, sleep in the car, or stay with relatives. If she can't afford a hotel room, doesn't know anybody in town, or doesn't have a car, then she'll just have to find somewhere to go, or something to keep her awake for the 24 hour period between visits to the clinic.

7. You're absolutely correct!
This is nothing more than the Republicans trying to put up stumbling blocks for someone who may already be in crisis.

14. Take the classic case of a pregnant woman/girl who can't afford a baby:
It's difficult enough for her to get money for the abortion and transportation to the clinic, and now add the cost of a hotel room because she has to be there two days. Oh, and another day off work.

8. Thank heaven ....
... someone is willing to make informed choices for me. There is no way I can be trusted to make decisions related to my own life and body.

I shouldn't have to worry my pretty little head about such things.

Ass holes!

(do I really need a sarcasm icon for my response?)
