Bush to Hold Democrats `Responsible' on Iraq Pullout (Update4)

March 28 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush attacked the Senate's $122 billion Iraq war-spending bill, which would set a timetable for troop withdrawals, and said he will hold Democrats responsible if they delay funding military operations.

``The clock is ticking for our troops in the field,'' Bush said in a speech this morning in Washington. ``If Congress fails to pass a bill to fund our troops on the front lines, the American people will know who to hold responsible.''

Money for U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan begins running out in mid-April. Bush is promising to veto any funding legislation that also puts a timetable on the U.S. military presence in Iraq.

The president's remarks reflect an escalation in the confrontation between the administration and congressional Democrats, who won control of the House and Senate last November largely as a result of voter dissatisfaction with the president's strategy in Iraq.

The Senate, during debate on the war-funding measure yesterday, voted 50-48 in favor of a provision that would force Bush to pull most U.S. forces from Iraq by March 31, 2008. The House passed a $124 billion package last week, setting a September 2008 troop-withdrawal deadline.

The votes were a repudiation of a plan Bush announced earlier this year to increase the number combat troops in Iraq. There are about 141,000 U.S. troops there now, with about half the reinforcements in place and the rest to arrive in June.

16. Evita got her teeth cleaned yesterday

She was getting horrible kitty breath and it turns out she had 6 teeth missing and 4 more had to be extracted. Mind you, she was probably 3-4 years old living out in the wild before I brought her into my home.

Well now she won't come near me (and I'm to give her anti-biotics twice a day and brush her teeth twice a week) and she kept me up all night with her howling (poor thing was probably in pain and I so wanted to comfort her).

Abbott is fine and has all his teeth.

By the time I paid for the cleaning, her yearly exam (I wasn't dragging her back again in May since catching her is impossible), 4 extractions, cat toothpaste, some sort of dental juice you add to their drinking water AND anti-biotics - well let's just say it was nowhere near the original $250 I thought it would be.

But hopefully her bad kitty breath will go away and she'll be in less pain
