Brookings: Herseth wedding on Saturday
The Associated Press

South Dakota Rep. Stephanie Herseth will marry former Texas Rep. Max Sandlin, a fellow Democrat, in Brookings on Saturday.

Once she is married, Herseth's name will change to Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.

Herseth, South Dakota's only member of Congress, rarely speaks publicly about her relationship with Sandlin, whom she met when she first ran for Congress in July 2002. Herseth was born and raised in the Houghton area.

But she said Monday that she is ''so happy'' that the wedding is only a few days away.

''A lot of my family and friends in South Dakota have had an opportunity to meet Max over the last couple of years, and I think they have all realized why I love him so much,'' she said.

She said she looks forward to her constituents getting to know him, too.

1. BTW, Sadlin was a victim of DeLay's gerrymandering
lost his seat in 2004 because of it.

2. So he moved to a state where his wife can't be Gerrymandered out of?
Remember South Dakota only has one congressional district.

Her Congressional Web site:
http://www.house.gov/herseth/

From her web site:
"Former Governor Ralph Herseth was Stephanie's grandfather and Lorna B. Herseth, South Dakota's Secretary of State, was her grandmother. Her father, Lars, served in the state legislature for 20 years and was the Democratic nominee for Governor in 1986."

What is it, South Dakota is her inheritance?? (Just Joking).
