Simply stated, there is no doubt Iran has plans to invade other countries. We know what they are. They're going to invade the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.

33. They invaded Greece -- as the media keeps reminding us (forgetting that the Greeks were agressors.)
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 02:56 PM by Leopolds Ghost
And they forced their slaves to fight because of their powers of tyranny and mysticism, whereas the Greek slaves VOLUNTEERED to fight in the cause of democracy (well, actually, er, no, the only democratic nation involved, Athens, was burned to the ground by Persia, but it survived, so presumably democracy would have perished from the earth, if Persia had actually won. Because then Alexander the Great wouldn't have conqurered both Persia and combined Greek and Persian culture into a neoclassical civilization ruled by inbred totalitarian generals, after killing hundreds of thousands of Greeks and destroying the Greek city states, after the no-longer-democratic Athenian empire had been softened up by rebellious fellow Greeks who didn't appreciate her hypocrisy on the subject of democracy and "free" trade, and Rome wouldn't have beat Carthage and Roman democracy wouldn't have flourished, and -- nevermind. just, nevermind.)

19. Actually Iran did invade Iraq on several occasions
in the 8 year war between those two countries. But it looks like Iraq was the initial aggressor in that war.

The war began when Iraq invaded Iran on 22 September 1980 following a long history of border disputes and demands for the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime. Although the Iraqis attacked without formal warning, they failed to make progress and were soon repelled by the Iranians. Despite several calls for a ceasefire by the United Nations Security Council, hostilities continued until 20 August 1988; the last prisoners of war were exchanged in 2003. The war altered regional and even global politics.

The war is also noted for Iraq's extensive use of chemical and biological weapons against Iranian troops and civilians as well as Iraqi Kurds.

<snip>

Early History

Although the Iran-Iraq war of 1980–1988 was a war for dominance of the Persian Gulf region, the roots of the war go back many centuries. There has been rivalry between kingdoms of Mesopotamia (the Tigris-Euphrates valley, modern Iraq) and the rugged highlands to the East (modern Persia or Iran) since the beginning of recorded history in Sumer.

More precisely, the origins of the Iran-Iraq war of 1980–1988 go back to the question of sovereignty over the resource-rich province of Khuzestan. Khuzestan was home to the Elamite Empire, an independent, non-Semitic, and non-Indo-European-speaking kingdom, whose capital was Susa and the territory of which spanned almost exclusively in what is now Iran. Khuzestan has been attacked and occupied by various kingdoms of Mesopotamia...

...But, today's border comes from Qasr-e-Shirin treaty. Modern Iraq was created with British involvement in the region...

In 1969, the deputy prime minister of Iraq openly declared: "Iraq's dispute with Iran is in connection with Arabistan (Khuzestan) which is part of Iraq's soil and was annexed to Iran during foreign rule." Soon Iraqi radio stations began exclusively broadcasting into "Arabistan", encouraging Arabs living in Iran and even Bal?ch?s to revolt against the Shah of Iran's government. Basra TV stations even began showing Iran's Khuzestan province as part of Iraq's new province called Nasiriyyah, renaming all Iranian cities with Arabic names.

but you are wrong

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russo-Persian_War%2C_1826-1828

Although there was no formal declaration of war, the 35,000-strong Persian army, led by Abbaz Mirza, crossed the border on 16 July and invaded the Khanate of Talysh and Karabakh. The Azerbaijani khans quickly switched sides and surrendered their principal cities — Lenkoran, Quba, Baku — to the Persians. Aleksey Yermolov, Russia's General Governor of Caucasus, feeling that he did not have sufficient resources to counter the invasion, refused to commit Russian troops to battle and ordered Ganja, the most populous city in Azerbaijan, to be abandoned. In Shusha, a small Russian garrison managed to hold out until 5 September when General Madatov's reinforcement arrived to their reli

Also this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qajar_dynasty

Fath Ali Shah's reign saw increased diplomatic contacts with the West and the beginning of intense European diplomatic rivalries over Iran. His grandson Mohammad Shah, who fell under the influence of Russia and made two unsuccessful attempts to capture Herat, succeeded him in 1834. When Mohammad Shah died in 1848 the succession passed to his son Nasser-e-Din, who proved to be the ablest and most successful of the Qajar sovereigns.

Also this one 203 years old so maybe it doesn't count.............

So it looks like Afghanistan and Russia........Again not trying to be a dick, just trying to be as accurate as possible......

31. Iran throughout history has been invaded many times over and
stayed firmly and deeply rooted as a people. Even Alexander the Great couldn't destroy it. You know, they say that if you scratch an Iranian, you'll find a Greek. Iran has absorbed invaders and assimilated them. It'll be there along after we've fought our way into extinction as nation. Iranians are a great people with a long and rich history.

39. From "Overthrow -- America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq"
This includes covert regime changes as well as actual invasions:

Hawaii, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Phillipines, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Hondorus, Iran, Guatemala (again), Vietnam, Chile, Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq.

This list leaves out countries that we invaded as part of a larger international effort, such as Korea, Bosnia, Kosovo, and those involved in the WW II effort.

Also leaves out Mexico, since that invasion occurred prior to the time period of the book. And most important of all, the many Native American lands that we invaded from well prior to the birth of our country to near the end of the 19th Century.

the country invading. We have been framed into the concept that we are the world police and have to stop and remember that even if Iran did invade Iraq, it would be up to Iraq to respond.
