The LAMEST 4:00 of your life.
WARNING this is video from the broadcaster's dinner.

WARNING

I had to will myself to sit through all 4 minutes of this. I actually felt sorry for him well more than I usually feel sorry for him. The 1:35 mark has the telling moment when the "What's my line?" guys realize how bad this is but as with everything else they go along with it and don't point out to this subhuman that he really just needs to stop taking advantage of people feeling sorry for him and to stop building mud castles in the dark regions of the margin that everyone else has the self respect to step over.

Yes that is David Gregory in the back dancing.

Standing ovation at the end which points out two undeniable facts
1.This has to be the lamest group of people in the history of man (and don't give me that "they were just having fun" nonsense)
2.Colbert comes there last year and pulls back the curtain and they all sit on their hands. Rove does this and they cow to him like they always have.

WARNING! <--- see I did warn you.

1. FWIW....this is not the same dinner Colbert spoke at
I looked it up.

he spoke at the one that's happening April 21...the one with Rich Little

that said, those fuckers need to be locked up forever, the spineless panderer Gregory included

why people still labor under the delusion that he's a journalist is beyond me

5. Wow he really can't tell a joke
He said that he ripped the TOPS off of small animals. These two seasoned performers did what they could with it and Rove (ever lame) corrected them in mid-joke aaaaaaaaaaaaand it still wasn't funny.

:wow:

14. He lamed up a really lame joke
a distasteful one too seeing as how Fitzgerald caught your dumbass co-worker lying about a crime that is almost impossible to prove

15. that's a good point, I never really thought about it like that
I haven't been to impressed with Fitz, I figured he was made to play ball since he didn't go after the big dogs more aggressively. But, that's a good thing to remember: The crime he busted Scooter for is damn hard to prove, so kudos to him.

16. From my reading of the thing
a prosecutor has to prove what you were thinking. They have to prove that you knew they were covert and that you MEANT to do them harm by outing them.

A Libby lied to protect Dick for something you can't prove.

Smartest guys in the room?

17. well, they were feeling pressure and needed a fall guy. One thing I gotta give BushCo credit for
is that they have operated for years now on benefit of doubt. They have committed countless crimes, undoubtedly, but have done so in such a way that evidence cannot be gathered (they refuse to turn it over and are allowed to in some cases), and the most serious charges cannot be absolutely proven.

They have been skating for six years now entirely on "Surely you aren't saying that the White House..."

To make accusations of them is usually a outrageous claim (since some of what they do is so over the top), and such claims require mountains of proof.

For example, lets see someone try to prove that they intentionally cherry-picked prewar intelligence, intentionally manipulated intel, lied to the Congress and the American public, and went to war motivated by profit.

It can't really be done.

18. Yep
Like I said in the original post-Rove moves in the margins that no one else considers or even takes a look into as they pass over them to get to discussion in the conventional realm.

I don't that is to be applauded or lauded or even accepted. It should serve as a negative example.

Suskind in "The One Percent Doctrine" talks about how this has been built into their operating manual from day one. Nothing said in front of the President (THE MAN) is to ever be repeated-EVER. They have a whole system of protecting THE MAN from accountabiliy now or in the future. See THE MAN has to be protected, you can never let THE MAN be taken down. He is the heat source from which the whole system thrives. He can never be shown to illustrate any weakness as others from inside their camp could divert his attention away from being THE MAN and commanding more power and fear. They always made sure* that he had an out and that he could take the high road when things got dicey.

*not only does this facilitate itself through the whole RW noise machine but it also serves as an excuse for their MAN not really knowing what is going on.
